Career exploration workshop

After donating some canned food to the food drive.  I went to career exploration workshop in the muti-purpose room on the first floor. It was hosted by the star and career development center. I learned a lot that day, some of the tips the speak gave were very good. I wish i had attended the workshop before my last job interview with the Baruch welcoming center, which I did a very bad job and didn’t get the job. Although it was a long workshop, but at the end it was very useful. I also forgot to bring my planner that day for them to sign, so I have them stamp on the package that they hand out.

food drive

On Thursday, I donated some canned food to the food drive on the second floor. I’m happy that now i got the community service requirement out of the way. It was relatively easy and much easier than I thought it would be. All I did was drop the cans in the box and I was free to go. With the community service requirement out of the way, I decided to complete one more workshop requirement, so I went to the career exploration workshop.

FOOD DRIVE

Dropping cans

Dropping cans

I actually thought that the food drive would be a little different. I was a little surprised when all I had to do was drop the can in. I guess it just looked too simple. Even though it was just a pretty box, I was very happy to have been able to donate food, for the needy. It was quick and easy, I hope many more people were able to give.

Today I donated to the Freshman Seminar stall on the 2nd floor lobby’s food drive. It really felt good being able to do something that will benefit the less fortunate in the community. I donated a couple canned goods to the cause.

The Art Gallery

Last week my friends and I attended the Baruch Art gallery. I really enjoyed the landscape photographs. I found the photo of the boat by the sea, on land, interesting. The gallery was more than I expected; they even gave us a handout explaining the history and background of the art works.

Nature of Photography

The art museum was enjoyable. It seemed liked a nice place to just relax. The photos were also nice, but I wanted to see a description of what the picture was depicting, not the frame size, the photographer, and when it was photographed. After visiting the art gallery I began to notice the art that hung around the vertical campus building. Some of them are very interesting, but like the pictures in the Art museum there was no  information on what the photograph ment, or what it was expressing. I enjoyed the 20 minutes in the Art museum, and if they receive new photos I will gladly revisit it.

Internship and Goal Setting

A few of us attended the internship and goal setting. It was long but very informative. The speaker however wasn’t swell. She was a little uptight, and although she tried to sound fun, she kind off gave off a “Do not play with me vibe”. Other than her attitude what she told us was very helpful.

Internship and Goal Setting Workshop

I had the chance to go to the internship and goal setting workshop. This was probably the one workshop I was extremely excited to go to because I have been looking into internships and getting my resume together for the future. They gave out a booklet with information about obtaining internships, writing a resume, cover letter, and thank you letter. The session was very informative and definitely helpful to me. 😀
