I went to my first workshop last Thursday, Freshmen Reception. Before I actually went, I had the idea that this workshop would sort of be a “meeting” where freshmen students sat in a lecture hall and had a representative speak to us about the importances of freshman year; however, it was the opposite. The reception was really crowded and stuffy with a bunch of freshmen trying to get their books signed and grab a folder. I didn’t get a folder because it all ran out so I’m not even sure what the papers inside the folder were about.
So my expectations of this workshop being a sort of welcoming reception was incorrect but I hope this week’s workshop will be a little more organized and beneficial. My first impression of a Freshmen Seminar workshop wasn’t exactly great so I hope the future workshops will be completely different from last week’s and then maybe I’ll have something positive to write about in my future blogs.
So sorry to hear about this- but they will get better!
i think there’s going to be a little information “lecture” during one of the freshmen seminar sessions (at least, it was like that last year in the multipurpose room so it wasnt crowded or chaotic…)
