Internships & Goal Setting

Today, there was a workshop to inform us about internship information. As a freshman we do not meet the requirements to get an internship but the information we had learned was useful for future preferences. Such as, every Baruch student has a “STARR” account. This website informs us the list of internship programs there are available and it tells us if we are qualify for the programs.(There was other information as well but I was starved and my attention span just went out the door) I haven’t been on yet, but I will eventually ;). Overall the workshop was very organized an informative. It was worth the time going.

i really liked the workshop, although it was kinda long. I think this was the most informative workshop to me atleast and told us most of what we needed to know bout internships. Even though we don’t qualify for most of them,it doesn’t hurt to be prepared from right now. Towards the end though, I was kinda bored. It was getting late and i was getting distracted by my stomach grumbling louder than the speaker. =P
Overall, i really liked it, but it should’ve been a bit shorter.

I also think that this workshop is really informative and beneficial to us. The introductions of different kinds of internships attract me. After this workshop, I believed we all have a better understanding of how internship goes and how can we work on these asap.

There are also many interships that arent though baruch that you could qualify for as a freshmen. This could be a good chance to see what its like and and at a lower scale. It probaly wont be at a big company but simply having an itership before would look better when your trying to get peoples attention.

i preregistered for the same workshop but for a later date. i think internships are very important. not only is it good experience for your future job but it also helps you stand out from other candidates who are also competing with you for jobs (especially if youre in the business field). one of the reasons i applied to baruch was for its vast networks in the business world. i think its helpful that they have a website that lists available internships. Too bad freshman dont meet the requirements to sign up for them.

i thought the workshop was pretty good and it was very informative. i really don’t like the fact that you have to go to a specific workshop in order to get help from them in that subject. for example, to get help in resume writing, you would have to go to their resume writing workshop first or else they won’t help you….

the workshop for today was pretty informative, but once again, i feel like more than half of the people there only went for the signature. anyway, i learned that many Baruch students have the opportunity to have internships in major companies such as Goldman Sachs, the big four, and many business related places. i think i’m definitely going to participate in this sometime before i graduate. i think it’s important to have gain knowledge and experience as interns, it will also look nice on a resume.
