Arts at Baruch

THE WORST WORKSHOP EVER!!!!!! I couldn’t believe how boring this workshop was. If i would have had to pay for this muesum i would have been upset. All the lady did was talk about these triangles in the picture and how her art got “better” as time went on. Overall even though the tour lasted about 15 minutes it felt like an hour. It was also very hot in the place and i’m glad that this is OVER!!!

BARUCH LIFE

so it has occured to me that a number of kids are planning to transfer out of this school sometime in the near future ( me being one of them). i dont know why i dont like this school. i guess my reason is that it doesnt have dorms or even anything going on….i feel as if students that attend schools that have dorms and live away from parents are getting the true college experience. to me this school is just like high school except with a much longer commute. there really is no unity in this school and this depresses me. i love the friends that i have made here but they all want to leave and i dont want to be the only one left i do decide to stay here. some of y friends have already transferred out… the only thing that keeps me coming back to this school is that i know every tuesday and thursday i get to play basketball with friends and really get to know a bunch of other people that i know i would never have been able to meet. but in the end this is just my opinion. i wanna hear what you guys have to say about this school

Global awareness

Well i’m sure most of us have the global awareness workshop completed or attempting to get it done. But through all the trouble of trying to get the credit i went a different route. I decided to offer up my free time on the weekends and friday, to go back to my high school (not something i was fully planning but it had crossed my mind). I talked to my old robotics team advisor to ask if i could help mentor this years new members and providing them with the knowledge i have gained during my year on the team. Though the major competition season doesnt start until winter break, ive been helping them reset up everything since the major board members and captains of the team all left. It’s gonna be hectic as ever but ill try to make the most of it

Volunteer work

On friday night a group of us helped Sasha out with her ceremony. Man was that a crazy night. We were liftin table’s, carrying sodas and ushering people in to the event. I discovered a whole new side of Baruch that i’ve never seen before. I had no clue about the extra elevators there and Baruch has there own kitchen up on the 14th floor. Also a side of Sasha came out that nobody wants to see, but it wasn’t her fault just the stress of the event. All in all it was a good night and i’m glad that we were able to help sasha and her group out. BTW the food was GOOD!!!!

Student Life Workshop

My last workshop!!! I think it’s the most interesting and informative workshop out of the 6.  Even though it lasted for more than two hours but the film and the discussion afterward were really enjoyable and beneficial. It was basically about how saving money early can make a huge difference in your future life. Other information such as how to choose the best bank for saving your money, how to avoid yourself from getting into credit card debt, and etc. I really learned a lot from this workshop and think they had done a great job this time!!

ps. the gift was really nice and there were prizes too but I didn’t win anything 🙁

Personal Enrichment

We were supposed to go to a workshop but ten muntes before it even started we were kicked out.The women there gave some attitude to and she knew this was the last one I don’t know why she did’nt say thaat to the people who were right infront of us .I would not have minded sitting on the floor and they know we just want to get this workshop stuff over with. Some people are so annoying.

Internship & career planning workshop

Today during my break i went to a career planning workshop in room 3-215. The topic was internships and it should have been interesting to me because I plan on looking into getting an internship but i just didnt find the workshop engaging. The internship coordinator from the STARR center just kept talking and talking…and talking. The manual they handed out was actually superb. it takes you through every single step in find an internship, acquiring one and successfully keeping one. there are examples of resumes and thank you letters in there and its just really helpful because instead of talking about what to write, they show us what to write and how it should look. Basically, everything was in the book and the workshop was unnecessarily long (~1 hr 15 mins).

Career Planning: Internship & Goal Setting

i went to the internship and goal setting workshop during our break today. it had a lot of information that i already knew, but i also learned a few things too. i was told more about the starr career development center and what they did. they help with getting internships/jobs, resume reviews, and mock interviews. they also have “starr search” where you can look up internship opportunities. not only are there internship opportunities but leadership programs which help you get those internships. they also handed out a packet which i have yet to look through but it seems to have a lot of useful information in it.

Yankee Parade

The Yankee Parade was really fun. I got downtown at 8:20 and it was really crowded downtown. This was the first time I ever attended a parade for one of the teams that I root for all the time. I was happy to see all the great yankee fans and out there for one main cause- to cheer for the yankees. Things were really hectic where I was at and people was hangin from poles and fights almost broke. If I had to do it again I definitely do it again no matter the weather or how early I had to get up!
