I attend the business workshop on Wednesday, Nov 4. Since we were required to have our business attires for this particular workshop, I prepared to dress up a week ahead. However, when we arrived, many people just dressed casually, even the assistants. The workshop itself was a pretty helpful lecture about resume writing. The professor communicated with us by asking questions about work experience, and how we should utilize and connect the experience to a specific job we apply for. He taught us the basic structure of resume writing, which should be a page long only. The handouts also helped us better understand how do we start and write a resume. An unexpected thing was that many students like my age did not have any work experience. The professor also told us how important it is to remember a new name in the business world. When writing a resume, it is severely important to double check, triple check, or even more to make sure we use the correct grammer, spelling, and structure. The professor taught us how to relate our previous work experience to the job we looking for. For example, there was a girl who was working as a cashier. The professor explained it as that she is good at financing which involves money. The length of a resume does not matter, it is important and effective to have the content relevant to a future job. Although I was disappointed that other students did not wear business attire. Overall, I found this workshop helpful for resume writing.
