I attended this on 11/12/09 at 12:30 p.m. The speaker of the workshop, Color It Up, is part of the L.G.B.T. community. Just to make sure that you all know, L.G.B.T. stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. The week of the workshop is the week for the LGBT. It was surprise that he got an internship in the White House. When he applied for the internship, his friend thought he could not get it. The only job the speaker has on his resume is a hotel bellboy. He didn’t give up. Therefore, he got the internship. He was the intern for the lady involved in the Clinton scandal. He got opportunities participating in the events hold in the White House. This internship experience changed his career. His major is media, but he starts to like politics. He later worked in the campaigns. He is a mixed of Latino and white. He said that people don’t have much trouble accepting he’s gay. The only trouble he had when he was running the city counsel was his race. He doesn’t look like a Latino and he’s not right. People from these communities don’t really accept him. I just want to share with you all that internships can really help people to explore their interests. You might find what you truly like to be. Maybe it is very different from what you think. If you don’t try, you never know what you can be. After all, this workshop is not too bored. It did make me considering applying for internships not only related to finance and accounting. I should also try advertising and magazine firms.
