Library Blog on Google 10/20/09

Library information on Google, 12:45pm, located in the library. 10/20/09

This workshop is learning how to use “GOOGLE.” At first I thought this would a workshop not worth my time; however, as it turned out, it was. I learned new tactics on how to use Google that I never knew before.

We can use quotations (” “) in our search to enhance our results. Using the quotation meant that we want the words or phrases in our results next to each other.

We also can use the word “and”, “or” to further enhance our results. Using the word “and” within our seach allows the search engine to include all the words/phrases typed in the typed boxes.

When we use the Google search engine, we can also use the “Advance Search” link to also further enhance our searches.  If you need any tips on how to use Google, on the Google home page, click on “Advance Search” then click on “Advanced Search Tips.” This gives you several points on what to do for further and specific searches.
