Getting involved.

On Tuesday November 10th, me and my classmates went to a student life workshop called “Get involved with USG and make things happen.” This workshop was mainly the presidents and other officers of the USG talking to us, introducing how the undergraduate student government works, and what they usually take care. The meeting went smoothly, took about an hour for them to go over basics with us, then they start taking questions. The question session took about another hour also. Along with the meeting, because it was lunch time, they had pizzas and soft drinks. Some people seemed more interested in the refreshments than the actual meeting itself. But overall it was a informative session, I learned a lot about this club.

www.usgbaruch.com is the student government website, on the site it has a few sub-sites, one of them is about clubs. It has information about how the club works, what it’s all about, list of club members, and other useful informations. The site also has a visual clipboard, where all the club clip their flyers and other ads there. By doing that makes the student’s life a lot easier, especially when freshmen first came in to the school knowing nothing about the system. Other than the information session, the officers also talked about what they want to do in the future, and how we can help them. Raising the student activity fund and be more active in student sponsored activities all help them.

Even though the pizza was not that tasty, the workshop was helpful.
