Hey,
My first couple of weeks at Baruch were alright. I was expecting a lot more from Baruch of my beginning experiences. I still don’t really feel the college life because Baruch kind of feels like a High School. I have the same people in most classes which is nice because they are all cool kids, but I also wanted a chance to meet many more new people. I am not too fond of the pre-made freshman schedules because it sort of limits the amount of new people I get to meet. Hopefully it gets better soon.
Love,
Yasir Malik
I can relate to that. The fall of my freshie year was spent taking 4 of 5 classes with the same people, living with those same people, doing community service with them and having breakfast, lunch and dinner with them…and that included my roommate, who about 2 days after moving in raised hell in our 12×12 cell!
It gets better Yasir…Sue promises!!
Next Thursday I’m fieldtrippin’ and bringing everyone to the club fair, where you’re bound to find something on campus you’re into. Most clubs are formed just to get a hang out time for people that are into a certain thing- it’s usually not too serious, so you can really get to mingle and have some fun…
Some suggestions: Toastmasters-you get to talk ALOT, and this gets you to hear other people which gives you a chance to get the ball rolling and if you meet someone interesting, it can really go far. One club I like, but never get to do much w/ is the paintball club, which occasionally goes out for games in NJ and Queens.
There’s a club for just about anything, give it about a week or so more, and it’ll start taking flight, you’ll see 🙂 From there, just take a chance to hang out w/a few different clubs, maybe a frat, etc …worst case you get some free food and meet some new people!
