Welcome to Freshman Seminar – BKM5A!

I am anxious to meet all of you on Thursday for your Freshman Convocation. 🙂

My name is Ana and I will be your peer mentor for your first semester at Baruch. I am currently a sophomore at Baruch. I am majoring in Accounting. This is my first year as a peer mentor for Freshman Seminar and I hope to learn and grow just as much as you guys will! I will be giving out contact information when I meet you all face-to-face. Any doubts, concerns, or questions, please feel free to contact me. I will be in Baruch all day on Mondays and Wednesdays and until noon on Thursdays and Fridays.

Please feel free to introduce yourselves through here! Tell us what your name/nicknames are, where you’re from, what you did during the summer, and why you chose to come to Baruch.

(and yes, you will be blogging on this often.)

I’m glad to see that most of you (ahem ahem) have started commenting and telling us a little about yourself since we didn’t really get to introduce each other during convocation day. It’s interesting to see how many of you want to do either accounting or psychology (two of my passions!) . I want to major in accounting and minor in psychology so we’ll see how that goes! And I agree with you Jenny.. I chose Baruch over hunter because the buildings were nicer =/ yeah I know such a dumb reason. Overall, I’m glad I came to Baruch 🙂

  9. Hello. I’m Jenny. I’ve lived in Brooklyn all my life. I came to Baruch because it was either this or Hunter, Baruch just sounds classier (just kidding). I have no idea what I’m going to be doing, I’m indecisive, not to mention I have a reputation for leaving things undone till the last minute, which usually causes me to make impulsive decisions. I hope you all find what you are looking for =]

I do look forward to the “college experience” and making more friends. Though college is a little harder than high school, I would say I am acquainted with the effort and dedication one needs to put in their education to succeed in college. So I leave my comment wishing everybody lots of luck as we all go on this journey together 🙂

  16. Stacie says:

Since everyone else started by stating their name I guess I’ll do the same. My name is Stacie Chue. I live in Brooklyn, New York and I have always lived there. I came to Baruch mainly because I don’t like dorming and because both my parents went there. I’m looking forward to a great semester together.

  20. zleighton says:

MY name is Zachary Leighton I’ve lived in Manhattan my whole life on the Upper West Side. I’ve been living on own for 2 1/2 years now due to my mom living in New Jersey. I’m a part time daycare teacher for kids between the ages of 3months – 4 years I’ve been working here for three years and i spent most of my summer working. Im dearly attached to my kids and love my job but I can only be a part-time student in Baruch due to me living alone and needing to keep my job and going to school at the same time. I chose Baruch because I wanted to stay in the city and didnt know where else to go. I might transfer I might not but either way I’m looking foward to a great year in this college.
