The transition from high school to college may be difficult to adjust to at first. Although Veralyn mentioned in class that your first semester at Baruch will be the easiest, I can honestly say that my first semester at Baruch was the hardest. It was hard for me because I was still in high school mode and working every day after my classes ended did not help me adjust to college either. One thing for sure is that it is very important for you guys to reach out to your instructor, the SACC center, the Center for Academic Advisement (room 5-215 VC), or to myself whenever you need help or are having trouble keeping up with your classes.
I cannot stress that enough! I am proud to say that for most of my freshmen year, the SACC center was my home. I spent more time in the SACC center and the library than anywhere else.
As I said in class, I am preparing myself mentally and physically for your emergency late night phone calls. -_- You guys are always welcome to call/text/e-mail/facebook me whenever, wherever (like that Shakira song). I might not respond immediately but I always respond back, I promise!
Wait until midterms and finals come =/ If you guys feel like you can’t keep up, I suggest you visit the SACC center asap before you fall even more behind. And yes,you can always call/text/email me whenever wherever. It might be better for you guys to text me or email me because I get all notifications sent to my blackberry and I’m always either at the school library or at work.
hey ana ! I’m actually still trying to decide whether or not im going to quit me job or continue working. as of now im dealing with both, but i know its going to get harder as the year goes by and im assigned more work. i alsso havent been in the SACC center yet, but i know im goin to be in there for my english class. and thanks for helping me with this blog thing. =D
Hey Ana!! Thanks for deciding to be a peer mentor because as you know you have been very helpful to me and I truly appreciate it. Regardless of how hard or easy things are, it always help to have somebody to help. So THANKS!!
I’m not going to lie I’m really trying to adjust to “college life” because it turns out to be harder than i thought. It is nice to know that you will be accessible when times start getting rough (personally I don’t think I could do what you are doing, I give you props). Hopefully it won’t get to difficult where I’ll give up but you’ll be there to push me. Well, looking forward to getting to know everyone better.
thanks ana, it is good to know that we have someone that can help us if we need it. i will also spend time in the SACC center because i know that i will encounter assignments that are difficult. Classes are not as challenging now because we just started, but i know where to go if it becomes more difficult.
