Last Minute: Freshman Reception

Well thanks to Veralyn’s help I was able to realize I actually missed an enrichment workshop!! Which was very surprising to me but anyways I am here to write one last blog!! Even though this was a while ago I actually remember the freshman reception mainly because I just went in and got my paper signed!! It was the most amazing day of my life!! There were too many people there so we just got it signed and picked up a folder about classes we needed to take and etc. It was a repetiton of what we had learned at orientation. I am just very ecstatic that the semester is over!!!!!!!!!

It was some sort of stress relief workshop I think. It was useless, I felt bad for the the people giving the thing cause nobody actually cared about it cause they where all there for the same reason, which that they had to be there. The thing that I will remember the most is that raising your shoulders relieves stress. That’s really about it, one of the people talking ended up getting to the point where he let people leave early if they just shut up. A very ineffective workshop that didn’t really have any useful advice that I wasn’t already aware of.

While everybody else went to go paint, I went to the middle of nowhere Rockland County to help set up an “Autism Speaks” walkathon. I went with my dad and brother who had to also do community service hours for his Communion. All I did was set up canopies for 30 minutes and then while my dad and brother created the imaginary position of watching the bouncy castle so nobody get hurt, I went to the car and read the newspaper and found a very interesting article about whether to get cats vaccinated during the flu season. after about 2 hours of watching people walk in a circle around a field i got out of the car and helped put down the canopies i set up. After all that I received around 10 hours of community service for being there for around 2.

It was some sort of performing arts workshop. Although I have no idea why the school would think this could possible a “enriching experience” I went anyway. The play was about lying and so on. The people who preformed it had to chop it down in order to fit the time limit. I thought the play was well performed but overall boring. It was basically a very average play with nothing very original in order to keep my attention. I did have a good nap however.

Last minute blogs to pass a class that has no value except a credit 1

The first enrichment workshop I went to was apparently September 17. For this enriching experience I walked to the sixth floor after learning that there was a workshop. Once I arrived at the sixth floor I noticed a large group of people getting there books signed. I went to the central table, got my book signed. What I learned from this is that because of other peoples inability to anticipate large crowds, I could get a credit without having to do anything or waste my time.

Impression Management

Hey!!

Well recently I attended a workshop on impression management. It was a workshop like all others, a lecture. The presenter just went over a set of powerpoint slides. It was not that interesting. However, the presenter tried to make it as interesting as he could. He went over the basic stuff such as what impression means. He explained why it was important to give a good impression. He also talked to us and said that like for career fairs we have to dress up. Well, yeah that was basically what we did the whole time we were there.

Stress Relief

I just noticed that after writing about the 2nd Stress Relief workshop I attended, I never wrote about the first one! Well the first one was good, it was a little boring though. It ran off of a packet and could’ve bored any regular person. The intentions of the workshop were good though. There were many great tips on how to manage your stress, workload, and time.

Thy also gave extremely helpful resources around Baruch if you ever needed any advice or just someone to talk to. I think it’s really nice that Baruch offers this. Stress Relief workshops are a definite yes on my part! Well this is my 6th entry, It was nice blogging with you :)!!

Stress Relief – sigma alpha delta??/psi chi/mental health wellness group

Last week I attended another Stress Relief workshop. This one was a little more interactive than the other one i went to earlier in the year. At the meeting there was a short speech, then it was a free for all. There was free food- awesome!, board games, free massages by professionals, free smoothies, and even video games. I thought this was a good workshop since everyone needs a little break from the Baruch workload once in a while.

I definitely would attend another workshop like this even if I’m not required to. Especially if there are free professional massages again! Hahahah. Besides the fact that I needed the credit for FRO, Psi-Chi was co-sponsoring the event. I am working hard already to become a member of Psi-Chi and hopefully one day become a leader for the International Honor Society of Psychology. BARUCH ISN’T JUST BUSINESS!!!! =)

CREATE YOUR OWN MAJOR WS(worst)

I went to my last workshop on friday and I have to say it was the worst. The administrater of that workshop was very rude and  obnoxious. I was told that the workshop was going to count towards my freshman seminar requirements but after five minutes into the workshop the woman says ” if your here for your freshman seminar class i am not signing your books”. I was really pissed, I’ve wasted a hour and a half waiting for the workshop to start and I didnt even get my book signed. That ruined the rest of my day. luckily vareyln helped me with that little problem I was having and it’s all good. I think this is my last blog I have to write so I’m happy about that.

Arts Workshop

So, I left myself no choice but to go to that piano concert to fulfill my arts workshop. It was actually very good. Not boring at all. It was a little inconvenient coming to school on a Saturday night, but it was well worth it. I like music, and I probably would go to a concert like this in my spare time, so it works out I suppose. The room that they held the concert in was very nice, but the seats were really uncomfortable. They like sort of bended backwards, I really don’t understand why anyone would think that to be a good idea. But anyway, the concert was good. The people that played were all armatures, but very good none the less. There was this one older woman with big curly black hair who was my favorite. The pieces she played were beautiful and her actions were very animated which made it quite enjoyable. So, that was my arts workshop. And even though it was a bit out of my way for the evening, I enjoyed it.
