CLUB FAIR

[09-25-2009] [12:00 PM-2:30 PM] [Baruch Gymnasium]

The club fair at Baruch was met with much enthusiasm from the students. Before entering the Gymnasium, event volunteers swiped my ID and gave me a free map of the N.Y Transit (m.t.a). While waiting to enter the gym and look at the clubs, I could hear the music. While there were many students walking around to look at each club, there was a huge crowd in the back where the music was playing. With hip-hop and reaggae music blaring from the steroes, an upbeat and energetic environment was created.

The event was held to expose students to the many clubs Baruch offered. It was a way for students to get involved in the Baruch community and in the future to join and become a part of some of the clubs. The gymanisum was packed with club representatives, along with students who showed up to see what Baruch had to offer as recreational activities. Some of the clubs included: Mac Club, Music Club, Bowling and  Billiards Club, Eco Club, and etc. As you walked to each table, the representatives of the club greeted you with a big smile and enthusiam. They answered all the questions to the best of their abilities.

At first, I was indeed hesitant to go to the Club fair, because I didn’t know what to expect. When I did show up for the event, there were many students and the gym buzzed with conversations and the music. I also ran into old friends from high school and many other students from my classes.

At the end, I was really pleased with the Club fair. The representatives were very friendly and answered my questions. I am still debating as to what club to join but I know that I will join atleast one club. The fair allowed me to meet new people and interact with them. As I started walking around, the more comfortable I became with the environment.

If you missed out on the Club fair, I would certainly recommend you to go to the next Club fair whenever Baruch will have it. The Club fair is a great way to socialize with people and become aware of the different clubs the college has to offfer. Hopefully you might find one that may suit you and make you more connected with the community.
