I attended the Gallery Tour on October 6th at 1 P.M. at the Sydney Mishkin gallery, which fulfilled the arts at Baruch category of enrichment workshops. The gallery offered a very brief guided tour of the various photographs showcasing art from Baruch. I selected this particular workshop because it is mandatory to complete as well as being an interesting and easy way to fulfill the requirement. This didn’t really take me out of my comfort zone because it was really short and didn’t take up too much time, which didn’t really alter my daily schedule too much. This workshop met my expectations because I figured it would be a fun and easy way to receive credit for freshman seminar. I would recommend it to another student because there are many interesting photographs to view and a tour guide helps you by explaining each photo. I don’t feel like I really learned anything new, it was more for enjoyment than for learning something new. What surprised me was that the gallery is very small in size and a photo in particular really stood out to everyone. The photo called “Four nudes in the City” as the name entails showed four nude bodies laying down on the sidewalk in the city. I didn’t expect to see a nude photo, especially since it is the school’s gallery. All in all, it was a fun experience that I would recommend to all other Baruch students.
