Sidney Mishkin Gallery Tour 10/13

Yesterday I attended the gallery tour at Sidney Mishkin Gallery behind the 23rd street building. The tour started at 1 o’clock but it seemed as if the tours began earlier than 1. This workshop fulfilled the arts in baruch category. It was actually my third time viewing the gallery but with a tour guide actually describing the various pictures, I got a better understanding of the aspects of each photograph. In the gallery there were mostly black and white pictures and as the guide explained all the photographs were taken of nature and landscapes. The artists manipulated these landscapes and took the picture from their perspectives.

There was one set of photographs that really stood out to me taken by Marilyn Bridges. She was actually a pilot and ideally her pictures were taken from a bird’s eye view. It made me realize the drastic differences from another perspective and not to always look at things from one certain angle.  One must be versatile to be truly successful.

This workshop met my expectations. I actually learned a lot more the third time around. I guess it’s like they say the third time really is the charm. I’d recommend this workshop to anyone really; especially those into art and photography. There were a lot of interesting and amazing pictures. I think everyone can leave with something they’d learn or appreciate.
