Database Survival

I attended the Database Survival workshop on Thursday October 15th which fulfilled the Academic Enrichment requirement. The workshop taught the students about the databases that Baruch has on the internet. The speaker focused on Ebsco and LexisNexis although he mentioned there were many many other databases to choose from. I chose this workshop because it was short and it would also help with my English research paper to find credible sources. This didn’t really take me out of my comfort zone because the day before we had a similar workshop for English class so the Database Survival was sort of a review. This workshop met my expectations because I knew it would be about the online databases Baruch has. I would recommend it to another student because the information was useful and allows for the students to further explore all the databases on the internet. I learned about LexisNexis which he didn’t mention the day before in my English class workshop. I was surprised that he used the same search examples of steroids and sports as we used in English class. Overall the workshop was informative and provided much useful information for the students.
