I attended the Career Planning: Internship & Goal Setting workshop on Thursday October 22nd which was for the Career exploration requirement. At the workshop we were informed about the various types of internships, how we can get them, and how to make the most out of them. Everyone received a handy book, which lets us know everything about internships, writing a resume, and how to have a good interview. I took this workshop to fulfill the requirement for Career exploration, but I also might want to get an internship for the summer, so the information from the workshop was useful. This workshop didn’t really take me out of my comfort zone because I pretty much knew most of the information that was presented. I expected the workshop to be a presentation, but I was pleased to see that there was a lot of interaction with the audience as well. I honestly would recommend this workshop to another student because it provided a lot of information about internships that are beneficial to all students. I learned that profit-making companies aren’t technically allowed to have unpaid internships. Despite this fact, people usually get some sort of reimbursement, whether it be scholarships or school credit. Overall, the workshop was a good and easy experience, in which any student can get much information to land an internship.
