Database Survival was a really helpful run-through on how to use database search engines properly. The instructor told us to use different search words to find different articles, for example if youre searching for an article on baseball and steroids, you can search athletics and steroids, or baseball and performance enchancers, or athletics and performance enchancers. you can also use quotes around your search words so you can make sure you find a phrase, so if youre searching baseball and steroids, you wont get an article with just the words baseball and steroids in it, youll get an article that has the phrase “baseball and steroids”. The presentation itself was pretty short, so there isnt much more to say, Professor Hansley actually covered this more in detail on wednesday.
