Sept 22
12:50-1:40
The workshop wanted to inform the audience about the newly appointed Supreme Court judge from the Bronx, Sonia Sotomayor. I chose to attend this workshop because it was an opportunity for me to learn about this prominent figure who lived in the same state as myself. I came in knowing little about Ms. Sotomayor and left with an overall view of who she really is. The three speakers spoke about Sotomayor’s past and historical position. I did not know the degree of which why she was considered such a prominent woman. She attended Princeton University in a time where it was the beginning of the university becoming co-ed. Her first job out of Law School was being the Prosecutor. Her accomplishments have led her to be the first Latin Woman and the third woman to be appointed as one of the Supreme Court Judges. The workshop was beneficial to myself because I learned about someone whose determination led her to be noticed by the president for a position that is considered male dominated. I advise other students to attend the workshop because it will give them a chance to learn about a woman who continues to break barriers.
