I didn’t really get to the student service fair until later because I was at clubs but by the time my friend and I got there, they were starting to raffle off the two T-shirts and the thermos. We watched amused as the announcer pulled out names after names because non of the winners actually stayed long enough to claim their prize. One guy in the back told the announcer that he should just give the shirt to him and the announcer laughed and reached in the box for another name, which was the name of the guy who just spoke.
My friend and I first started at the academic advisement booth and asked the lady there how to register for classes and which classes should we as BA majors take. Her answers were insightful and she told us to visit their office if we have anymore questions. When we turn around to go to a different booth, we saw that some people were already leaving and packing up. A little worried, since we need to get 10 booths to punch our entrance card before we can get our planners signed, we just decided to ask the booths that is left any question we can think of. My friend wandered off to the booth for SACC and I stood behind another group of students who were talking to the man from the Writing Center.
Seeing that the man would be too busy to help me out, we regrouped and walked towards the booth for the health center to ask the lady there about flu shots. Next we went to the athletics booth, even when we had no intention of joining a team. The people there asked if we really had a question or if we were there to get our card punched and we told them the honest answer. Feeling bad I threw in one question just to fill up the silence. Our next stop was the Writing Center Booth where the man behind it was still looking eager to help instead of ready to bolt. We took about five minutes to hear him talk about the advantages of the writing center before we went to the booth for transfer and registration. We ask the lady behind it about our AP grades and possibility of getting credits for that class. She politely informed us that our AP grades aren’t credited but we just take a higher level course than other students. She then offered to look up our info on her computer and we stood around for another 2 minutes while she informed us about our classes and our immunization records.
There was no way that we can get ten booths to punch our tickets, seeing how there’s about 5 of them left, so we winged it and asked the lady in the front if she’ll sign our planners anyway. She agreed and we then left.
