The workshop was about the different aspects of Sotomayor’s accopmlishment of becoming the first Latina woman in the Supreme Court. During the workshop there were three panelist who discussed the issue of race and civil rights, women rights, and Sotomayor’s rulings being a Latina. I chose this workshop because I wanted to why I heard that name so much because I haven’t been following any politics. I was not uncomfortable ate the workshop. It was actually more interesting than I expected. The part that I remebered the most was the second panelist who spoke of the racism that still exists. The workshop exceeded my expectations I’m glad I went to it. I would reccommend it to any students who believe in change for society, because it discussed where society is and how people like Sotomayor and Obama influence thier community. One thing I learned from the workshop is that although we have an African American presidents there are still many barriers that the African American people have to oversome even now in the 21st century.
