My Baruch experience

My first week as a Baruch student was new and exciting and I was very eager to learn new things, take on more responsibilities and make new friends. While college life is a whole new experience, there is a major difference between college and high school. In college it is harder to get to know my classmates because we only see each other about twice or so a week and it doesn’t give us time to really interact and chat but in high school, I see the same set of students for five times a week and makes it easier to talk to them. It has only been about a week so I’ll probably give it some more time but I usually stick to my old friends first.
Another thing about college is the workload. While teachers don’t necessarily collect our homework to check like in high school, there’s still a lot of pressure to read about fifty pages from our books and do the assignments given and it’s a stranger transition from high school. The teachers then check the previous night’s assignments but it’s lighter compared to college.
There are similarities and it still feels somewhat like I’m still back in high school but with so many students in a class, the teacher doesn’t have time to interact with each of us individually and there is more effort on my part to get noticed and participate when not called.
