Career Planning Impression management

11/19/09

This workshop help me understand the difference a person can react to the slightest thing you do. Leaving a first impression can change how a person understands you for the entire time you know them. When going for interview i know that i have to act properly and to always leave a good impression so that if anything happen they can still remember you with a positive feedback. I also learn that you should always act professional when going to anythng that is important.

Managing Relationships in College

Like many times before, this workshop reminded me that time management is the most important factor in college, and in one’s life.  It affects one’s networking abilities. Depending on how concise and organized one’s life is, one is able to meet various people from different clubs, ethnicities, and corporations.  Time management enhances one’s love life, professional life, and other relationships.  I admit that even though I have been told many times before that time management is the most important factor in college, I still tend to get distracted from my studies and assignments.  Time management is something I must work on because by not mastering this skill, my social life will never improve.

Impression Management

The impression management workshop was very informative.  I learned that the simplest details can leave an imprint on one’s first impression of another.  For example, the way one is seated, whether he is slouching or sitting upright, is enough to determine whether he progresses on to the next level of the interview of even offered the job.   The host of this workshop also said that whatever is posted on Facebook has a huge impact on the impression of a person.  I already knew this, but I didn’t know that simple details like capitalization would be so significant.  This workshop taught me that I should be very careful about how I present myself to the public especially at a professional environment.  It will determine my future.

internship planning and goal setting

So, I’m pretty sure that I blogged about this before, but I guess not. I haven’t had internet at home so, yeah. I went to the internship seminar for career exploration and it was sooooo boring. This was a total waste of time. I’ve already had an internship and so this was like reviewing what I already knew, which is that an internship is an unpaid job. I was much more impressed with the personal enrichment seminar that I went to because this career one was just like typical powerpoint presentation. So boring.

Gallery Tour of nature landscapes

This event was held on October 6, 2009.  I must say that though I do not have an interest in gallery tours, the art of these landscapes captured my attention.  I  examined it from different perspectives.  There was this one “landscape” of four models laying on the floor nude with their rear ends facing up.  The way they were positioned looked like it was an actual landscape; it looked like a desert with sand because of the curves of the rear ends.  It was a very intriguing image, and no I am not being perverted.

My Experience At Baruch So Far

This semester was my first one at Baruch College. I feel completely different about myself, situation, and responsibilities. There are many regrets that I have and if there was yet another chance for me to return to the beginning of this semester, I would make sure that things would have ran smoother. I am not saying that this semester was horrible for me, but that I have not taken college seriously enough. I neglected some of my responsibilities and I have made some mistakes. I know that being a freshman does not excuse myself from being foolish, but it provides an explanation.

I would try harder in the other semesters that have yet to come. I will use my exerience from my first semester at Baruch as a guideline for how I want my other semesters to be. I love Baruch and I will continue to enjoy being an undergraduate at Baruch.

Course Feedback

Here, I would like to thank Choi and Adam for helping my transition to college life become easier and more exhilerating. I thought that Fro was a really helpful course by helping me understand my new roles as a college student and how to accomplish them. In this course I learned a lot about my new school and the helpful programs that this school offers. I especially like SACC, because it helps me with my college works and helps me understand the sometimes rather difficult problems of math.

Furthermore from this class, I have developed very strong friendships with some of my classmates. I find this especially important to my life in college, because friends fill my life with happiness and excitement. I also want to thank my instructors, Choi and Adam, for being very patient with me, because I am still stuck in my high school ways.

I find this course to be a must in college, especially for the freshmen who are still unsure about college. I am thankful that Baruch College offers this course to me, because it would have taken a longer time for me understand what college is all about. Thank you, Adam and Choi!

Managing Relationships in College

On the 8th of October I attended a Personal Enrichment Workshop from 12:30 to 2:30. In this workshop I learned the true important values of relationships and how to balance them with my school work. This workshop has changed me by letting me understand how sometimes networking can prove to be much more rewarding then academic achievements. I am not trying to say that school is unimportant, but that sometimes friends can give you a greater leverage in the real world by getting you a job.

Furthermore, the workshop was very interesting and a on-hand experience. During the workshop, the coordinaters asked us (students) to make at least 10 new friends. I felt that it was a great ecperience, because it is a great chance for me to make some more new friends. And then at the end you have to tell the group about something of the people that you just met.

I really liked this workshop for it’s creativity and it’s uniqueness. I would highly recommend this workshop to fellow freshmen, because it would their transition to college life run smoother. I do not think that attending this workshop was a burden. How I would horribly regret if I do not attend this workshop, because this workshop was truly amazing.

The Alexander String Quartet

On the 19th of November, I attended a workshop known as the  Concert Scene from 2:30 to 3:30. This workshop was extraordinary, because it was unique from the other workshops. In this workshop, I enjoed the composition of great music. I was amazed by the performance of the musicians as they work together to create the good sounds of the world. This concert was very memorable to me, because that particular day was not my best. I stayed up the whole last night studying and during the concert I was amazed that I did not fall alseep. In conclusion, this concert created music that was so in harmony, I couldn’t resist but stay attentive the whole time.

Throughout the concert, I was constantly moving my head and hands with the rhythm of the music. It was really that good! This concert did not take me out of my comfort zone, because it was during my music class period. So instead of attending a rather frequent setting, I attended the concert which is a fresh event. And most perfectly, the concert was accessible from a elevator on the first floor.

I really enjoyed this concert and as a result, I would recommend this concert to my fellow friends and classmates. I think that it would become a regrettable part of your life if you do not attend.

Managing relationships in college

Sorry for posting this up so late because i thought i have already blogged on this topic.  This workshoped happened quite a while ago but i do not really remember what happened.  I know there was a slide show and that it talked about communications and networking a little bit; nothing that i already did not know.  This also happened when we were new to the school, so i thought something like this was interesting and new.  But now that i am finished with all the workshops i learned a lot but at the same time am happy that it is over with.  Thanks again for guiding me along this path as an incoming freshman!!
