Gallery Tour

1) Title of Workshop: Gallery Tour: Mercedes Matter: A Retrospective
2) Enrichment Area Fulfilled: Arts at Baruch
3) Date/Time Attended: Tuesday November 17/ 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?
This gallery tour affected my perspective of the topic that was discussed by presenting me there are some ways to view artworks. To identify an artwork, there are lots of tips to do so, including the perceptive of lines, spaces, shapes and texture. And I never know an artwork could show off the artist’s emotions and thoughts before I went to the tour.
5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

The workshop took me out of my comfort zone easily because I love drawing so much. Even the entire workshop presented us only one person’s achievements, I still could see the development during her life span. She tries to maintain the traditional form in the artworks, but also put her own style into them. For instance, it is easy to find all elements through in her paintings, but when you take a close-read, you will also find she doesn’t put much detail as well.
6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.
The workshop was all about arts. There was a lady going to present us the artworks, and helping us to identify each of them. It was not that crowed because they were only taking a few people to get in the tour each time, which is good for people to enjoy their time. I am always so addictive to listen to the story behind the artwork. And I find this workshop is really helpful for someone who is taking art history course in the future. Anyway, the Gallery Tour is worth half of hour.
