4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

            This workshop provides students at Baruch a chance to enjoy art pieces. It helps to open our visions on art since Baruch is mainly a business school. The workshop provides a moment for students to enjoy things other than numbers and calculations.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

        This workshop helps to take me out of the comfort zone because I rarely go to museum to enjoy art pieces. Therefore, the workshop gives me an opportunity to enjoy arts

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

            During the workshop, we saw the art painting from an artist during different period of her life. Those arts painting are mostly abstract pieces, and the one that I have most memory was the one that has the hidden table within the painting. I chose this workshop because this is the only workshop that can fill in the requirement for the Arts at Baruch category.

Let’s talk ethics

1) Title of Workshop: Let’s talk Ethics

4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

 This workshop basically talked about how plagiarism affects our academic honesty and career. It didn’t really affect my perspective of it because i already knew this in high school.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

– The instructor gave us a sheet that shows two different situations. This activity was implying how people would make desperate decision under desperate decision. I think this activity truely reflected what the world was really like.

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

          This workshop was about how plagiarism would affect our academic honesty and career, and how people would make desperate decision under desperate situation.The reason i chose this workshop was that it was the first  workshop i attended, and i wanted to know how being in workshop feels like.

4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

I was impressed by the big number of people that were present at this event. Before this club fair I knew there were many clubs but after I attended it I was impressed. The college has a club for prety much anything, starting from athletics to economics and to clubs based on nationality. Unfortunately they didn’t have a Romanian club… i woad have joined that for sure.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

I felt comfortable at the cub fair I founded interesting rather then challenging.

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

All the clubs in the school organized a small presentation of their club and what they can offer to new members. New students could joined a club or several ones during this event.

Changing America: Sonia Sotomayor

3) Date/Time Attended: Sept. 22/ 12:30-2:30

4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

            Sotomayor is the first woman that appointed by the President that serves as the judge at the Supreme Court. I think this is an important issue because even though men and women deserve to be treating equally in nowadays, there are still less women serve in our government. Therefore, Sotomayor shows that woman can take the lead in the society.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

        This workshop helps to take me out of the comfort zone because Sotomayor shows that woman is not always weaker than men. Women can also work at the position which used to be men’s. Sotomayor gives me courage to take a bigger step in persuading things that I want.

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

            There are professors from the history department to explain why Sotomayor being appointed as Supreme Court judge is an important issue. We listen to their perspectives and there are also Q&A sessions in which students could ask for more information regarding this issue. I chose this workshop because I want to get involve and see the change of America.

Club Fair

4) How did the workshop affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

            This workshop helped me notice what clubs are available in Baruch College. Furthermore, I can actually talk to the club members and even the officials in the clubs I am interested in. During the walking in the room, I get so much information about what the clubs actually do inside or outside school and how they may help our academic life become more interesting.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

            We have to actually wander around and ask the clubs members questions in order to get the information we want. Some of the clubs I did not think of gave me fliers and it made me want to attend some many clubs. However, I would choose one or two of them, since I still need time and work to get used to the new academic environment.

6) Explain what the workshop is about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

The workshop is actually about clubs and the club official can actually recruit more members for this year. They give out information about what they do and how attending the clubs would be benefited for students in college. I chose this workshop because I personally think that clubs are fun and I want to get to know more about new school.

Career exploration

4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

 Before attending the job fair, i didn’t realize that Baruch has that many job occupations for students. Most of them were associated with our majors, so this job fair was really helpful for us to make money and gain experience.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

           There were varieties of job occupations. Since I will be majoring in accounting, so I chose the job occupation that related to accounting. Hopefuly, I would make some money and gain experience.

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

      This workshop led us to the realization of the fact that Baruch really tries to help us in making our way to our career. The reason i chose this workshop was that I wanted to see how does working in Baruch feel like.

            Personally, I think school should offer environment for activities other than studying for students. If the school only provides faculties for student to study, then students would not enjoy the environment because they might always under stress. Therefore, having various kinds of clubs in the school would help students to meet new friends and know more people who have shared interest.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

        This workshop helps to take me out of the comfort zone because the workshop let me knows the entertainment side of the school.

            There are many clubs have their station during the club fair which they also have people to explain what the club do and provide to its members. I chose to attend to workshop because I want to join some clubs during my college life and meet some new people.

            This workshop helps student because it allows students to get familiar with interview for jobs. It provides us with information regarding the issues about what we should or should not do when we are going for interview.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

        This workshop helps to take me out of the comfort zone because the workshop gave me the opportunity to have job interview and prepare me for the future when we looking for jobs.

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

            The workshop was about the departments in Baruch College hiring faculty. I chose this workshop because I want to get familiar with job interview.

4) How did the workshops affect your perspective of the topic that was discussed?

            I think this workshop is important because freshmen might feel strange and have hard time to adjust the environment at Baruch College. Therefore, it is important to have a workshop that helps freshmen to get familiar with the Baruch environment.

5) How did the workshop take you out of your comfort zone?

        This workshop helps to take me out of the comfort zone because the workshop gave an introductory lesson to help freshmen get familiar with the environment at Baruch. This workshop also gave out the list of courses that students need to take before they can get into Zicklin School.

6) Explain what the workshop was about and tell us why you specifically chose that workshop.

            I got the package about the list of courses that we need to take and how the GPA is graded. I think this package is very helpful because it helps me to keep track of course and my grade. I chose to attend this workshop because I think it would help freshmen to know what they should know.

          I really liked this workshop, because it provided us lots of employment opportunities. And I open my eyes to more working chances and start thinking about what else I can do,
