Impression Management

On November 24, 2009, I attended a career workshop about the impression management in the VC Building.  Unlike other workshops that introduced incoming freshmen into the Baruch life, this workshop was designed to help freshmen to get prepare for their future careers.  From this workshop, I’ve learned that a person’s first impression is extremely important, especially for people who work in a big company or a big firm.  Their dress code represents the image of their company.  More important, it demonstrates officers’ reverence toward their customers.  Besides the importance of dress code, the communication skill also plays a dominant role in constructing a person’s image.  It stimulates people’s interpersonal relationships.  In addition to that, it is necessary for officers in presenting their projects to their partners or customers.  Overall, I would like to recommend this workshop to all the Baruch freshmen.  Not only the instructor of this workshop presented the lesson in an organized and coherent way, but also the information that provided by the workshop filed students’ horizons and expanded their view of their future careers.
