On November 23, 2009, I attended a Global awareness workshop called the Perspective on Immigration in the 135 Building. In this workshop, the most attractive thing to me is the distinction of features among different generations of immigrants. Possessing different learning environment and background, the first generation of immigrants, generally, are more hard-working than the second generations of immigrants, since the first generation of immigrants need more money to support their families and start their new lives. Besides the characteristics of different generation of immigrants, the workshop also focuses on the motives that propel people immigrate to other countries. Different person has different reason for his or her immigration. Some immigrants immigrate to foreign countries because of money; some immigrants immigrate to foreign countries to possess freedom, while some immigrants immigrate to foreign countries to pursue a better life or a better life. Conclusively I think this workshop is useful in grabbing attention from the public. Knowing that the trend of illegal immigrants is getting more serious at current time, it is viable for students to know the justice and ambiguity behind the lesson of immigration.
