On November 12, 2009, I attended a workshop, which named “Mediating Conflicts and resolving disputes at Baruch College”, in the room 3-190 of the NVC Building. Having the speaker presented the information of how conflicts started, and how they resolved eventually, I felt like I was incapable of handling the disputes in the real society yet. Knowing that the society fulfilled with tricky and malicious attempts, and it could not be possible for people with naïve human natures to survive under such pressured competitions, it was extremely important for me to learn how to balance between trust and distrust and how to avoid occurrences of conflicts by fixing my interpersonal relationship. The instructor of this workshop also taught us about the lessons of behaviorism and psychology in determining the difference of personalities, which possessed by different kinds of people, so that contradictions would not be occurred easily among people. Overall I highly recommend this workshop to all the people. Not only because it taught students how to solve the problem of personal conflicts, but also because it enabled students to build more connections, like making friends, to the outside world and to experience the operation of the real society.
