Managing Relationships in college
this workshop was quite interesting. it explored different relationships that we can develop in college and talks about how our college life can affect relationships that we already have.
Personal Enrichment: Managing Relationships in College
On Thursday afternoon, during club hours, me and a couple colleagues went to go check out this personal enrichment workshop which turned out to be …pretty much your average workshop. There were a lot of people crammed within the multipurpose room at 1-307 (I guess it’s because it was somewhat mandatory for couple freshman seminar groups while being the one out of only two available personal enrichment workshops available throughout the semester). It was to a point people were stranded in the back with no other seats available but eventually more seats were set up for them.
So, what was this workshop really about? Pretty much self explanatory, really. Managing relationships in college. They started out with questions that asked the audience how many of us actually know people, if any to begin with, at this school, or if we saw many high school friends roaming the halls together. “How many of you guys know about 10 people in this school? How about 20?” “How many of you have many high school friends that go to this school with you and those people are basically your friends and clique at this school?” These (not exactly quoted though) would be some examples asked at the beginning of the seminar. It was as figured. Most of the new freshmen did not know much people, at most probably 10 people (from the show of hands).
Then the speaker just explained some things and tips about establish acquaintances & friendships in college and to help us to do that, she made the whole audience get up and meet 5 new people perhaps from the other side of the room. So, the next minute, I found myself in a room with people exchanging hellos and names and introduction. I, myself, was greeted by a few people around me such as this girl front of me (I forgot her name >< SORRY!) and girl behind me, LuLu. Then I was introduced to some of my friend’s friends that happened to be near us. I thought this was a good activity for this workshop and trying to promote friendship establishment.
After that part of the session, we moved onto intimate relationships and you can pretty much tell what’s to come with that :P.
Club Fair
The fair helped me found out what clubs there were at the school. I thought some of them were really interesting, but I felt that there wasn’t enough space.
Freshman Seminar
The Seminar was way overcrowded, so they could have organized it better. There were a lot of people who were trying to get there signatures with people everywhere so it was just complete chaos. I would say that the seminar was kind of helpful by giving me some information and forms on registering for next semester. I also found out where I could go for problems with classes and scheduling. Overall, the seminar was pretty helpful, just wished that it wasn’t that hectic.
freshman seminar
i used to think these classes were a waste of time but im beginning to realize that they can be extremely helpful and a great source of information if ur ever feeling clueless about something-talk to ur mentors mayb they can help
today class
In todays class I learned a lot I learned how to do time management and how to study a lot better. Also I’m going to try and not to procrastinate. I forgot to blog about the library tour but it was cool helped me learn about the library.
Club Fair, blogging, and today’s class
So here it is- my first blog. I finally found my way here to this very page after 10 minutes of searching but here I am. To start things off, I thought the club fair was quite chaotic. I must admit I was there briefly but I wonder why? Was it because I just wanted Student Life credit for FRO and be on my way? Maybe, but I must say, if the club was a bit more organized and a comfortable environment for me to be in, I would have stayed longer at least.
Sure I saw great school spirit in that crowded gymnasium but it was just way too crowded and hard to get around. Although I honestly didn’t have much interest in looking around at the clubs, I still wanted to, at the very least, get to the other side of the gym and back, just so I feel like my coming was worth while. It was so crowded, I couldn’t even do that! Another thing, I didn’t feel much comfortable in there either. I was in a rush to be somewhere but decided to check the fair out real quick and happen to be by myself. I didn’t really feel very much welcomed, especially with all the chaotic commotion all around me. Honestly speaking, I felt like it was a dejavu moment from one of my crowded highschool science fairs. Now I’m not saying the event was bad. Many seemed to have enjoyed it and I believe it was a nice way to serve as a club rejoicing moment. I guess it just wasn’t really meant for me.
Now, as for today’s class (where we covered the problems, obstacles, tips and solutions in our academic lives), I thought it wasn’t too bad. There we were able to interact with our other fellow classmates and come to realization of some irritating problems.
Okay so here it is, my first blog. See you guys next class!
today’s class
So…today’s class was informative. I learned that there are ways to help prevent procrastination, and also ways to help yourself if you don’t understand the material being covered in class, such as math class-that the textbook is actually helpful and i should get one. =]
