Career Planning: Impression Management
I attended this workshop on November 24. This was one of the less enjoyable workshops that I attended. The speaker was engaging and seemed enthusiastic about the subject material. Unfortunately he kept asking the audience a lot of questions and we were not very receptive of them. The workshop was about controlling the impression that you give of yourself to other people. It dealt with how you want to appear and act in class and when working or applying for a job. A lot of the information I have been told a million times: firm handshake, proper attire, thank you letter etc. I lost interest often during the presentation. I don’t think a career planning workshop should be required for future Freshman Seminar classes.
