Stress and Anxiety Relief

Me and a number of people went to a stress and anxiety relief workshop. After which i felt so stress relieved. Not because of their tactics to relief my stress but my friends. I was laughing so hard for a good 1/3 of the program that it was crazy. Drew was a good part of why i was laughing. The group had some interesting tactics. breathing thinking about minute things and blanking out your mind. some people fell asleep, but i had alot of fun. it happened last thursday   i believe. It was a quick and easy way to get a signature and it was fun also.

A doll’s house reading

Recently a group of my friends (joe, sean, rajaan, alex and me . it was a very interesting reading. As a matter of fact we went to see it last wednesday. The people reasing it really got into it. They  were putting so much emotion into it. the reasding was interesting in itself also beause it talked about how a woman went behind a man’s back in those times to get a loan. Some of my group members ended up falling asleep, but i enjoyed it. I think its a general success and its worth it to go watch it to get the arts at baruch signature

The Fall of the Berlin Wall

So, today I went to a global awareness workshop. I was so excited when I saw it added to the calender because I would have been to scared to give blood. This was an interesting workshop, we watched a 20 minute movie about the Berlin wall and then the director of the film, then dean of the weissmen school, a german studies professor, and political science professor gave small lectures about the Berlin wall and the signifiace of fall. I thought it was very interesting.

Late Post on Club Fair… >.<

After looking back at some of my posts, I realized that I forgot to post about my club fair experience T.T

The club fair was pretty cool because I finally got to see some of the clubs that weren’t represented on convocation day. I checked out some interesting clubs like archery and Latin ballroom dancing. There was also a dancing battle show near the back of the gymnasium for entertainment. Although the battle got held off for a pretty long time thanks to technical difficulties, I still got to watch some awesome hip hop moves and group choreographed dances. I had a good time…

P.S.

Thanks to the club fair, I am now an active member of Latin ballroom dancing! =]

Art Gallery Tour

After the stress and anxiety workshop, a couple of friends and I were pondering what to kill the hour of break that we had left. A few minutes later, we found out that there is an art gallery tour workshop that was being held that day, a perfect chance for us to get another credit for workshop. The art gallery was in a building that we never knew existed in this school. It was named Sidney Mishkin Gallery and it was located behind the seventeen Lex building. After killing fifteen minutes looking for this building, we were worried that they wouldn’t let us go on the tour; however, we were actually on time for the last group that would be going on tour for that day. The tour was pretty interesting. Although I am not a great fine arts fanatic, I thought the artworks were really awesome. What really caught my attention was all of the colors that were used in many of the works presented. It was one of the more fun workshops I have been to.

Stress and Anxiety Workshop

Two days ago, I went to a personal enrichment workshop called, Stress and Anxiety

Upon entering, I thought this workshop was going to be another one of those boring workshops where the speaker in front of the group just talk about how beneficial this workshop is for us for an entire hour. However, the first twenty minutes of the workshop proved that this was actually going to be a pretty interesting workshop that will share  some useful information on how to relieve stress and perform more effectively under pressure. The first speaker was a bit strange, telling us that simple things like examining a raisins shape and feeling its texture will relieve stress, which I didn’t understand at all…o,O The second speaker was a lot cooler, going through the list of exercises that will help us relieve stress. I found that some of these exercises are pretty useful and it really does make me feel more relaxed and focused. Overall, it was an interesting workshop and who knows, maybe I will actually implement some of the techniques I learned =]

The Art Gallery At Mishkin

After attending the stress & anxiety workshop (which ended earlier than I expected), I realised we still had enough time to head over to the Mishkin building for the art gallery. It was almost like killing two birds with one stone; attending two workshops during one break, how great would that be? The only problem was that nobody knew where the Mishkin building was. After being mislead into the basement of the vertical campus where the performing arts theater was, Julian asked one of the sercurity guards who gave us the right directions. We would have to leave the building and walk about two blocks. We blamed Paul for not showing us where the Mishkin building was during the tour earlier this year.. just kidding. It was pure luck that we made it just in time for the next group to go in and see the art. I tend to feel indifferent about going to art galleries. All the pieces of art were very nice but I was no expert so I couldnt really appreciate them beyond what I saw. It was, however, a great experience because the environment was very relaxed.

Stress & Anxiety Workshop

On wednesday I went to the stress & anxiety workshop. It was the last personal enrichment workshop for the semester so I decided to head over there 20 minutes earlier. When I got to the originally assigned room, I found out the workshop had, yet again, been relocated. This came at little to no surprise to me because I was so used to workshops either being canceled or relocated. In the beginning, I thought this workshop would be a waste of time. I found it hard to take our speaker very seriously. However, when we actually began doing the various exercises, I could sense myself feeling relaxed and less stressed. Overall, it wasn’t the best workshop i have attended but definitely not the worse.

Art Gallery at Mishkin Building

After hearing from my fellow classmate Grant that there was an art gallery in the Mishkin building that would satisfy the requirement of an art workshop, I was quickly tempted to go. It took me about 15 minutes to find the Mishkin building, after searching through the Vertical Campus going down into that art department to find out it was only a theatre. When i finally found the right place there was a humongous line and i did not have that much time before my next class. When i got into the gallery the art work amazed me. The paintings and drawings that Mercedes Matter created were very creative and unique. There were some nice sketches done with charcoal and some really nice oil paintings. I don’t normally go to art exhibits but i have to say that this was quite interesting and was different from the paintings I normally come across. So if you are into art i would strongly suggest going to this exhibit and studying some of Mercedes’ work.

Worst Workshop so far

if i may say as a bold statement, this workshop teaching us to relax; introducing a new-aged way of relieving stress, was something i found to be a complete waste of time and could have lived without it. He neglected to say the good old fashion exercise and enjoyable activities as a stress reliever, i dont think scrunching my face up makes me feel any better about msyelf. But its another workshop down and only a few more to go.
