Art Gallery tour

Heading over to the art gallery in the mishkin building today, I had but 30 min before class. Luckily as soon as I walked in there was a group heading in. During the tour I kept glancing at the time to make sure I had enough time to make it bak to class, so I wasn’t fully focused on the art. I did have a chance to study a few pieces which were pretty mind blowing. One piece had something with skulls in the name. It looked so distorted and just looked like a blur at first. You had to really study it to see the picture. I find it amazing how an artist can make a picture which is so deceiving. Either has to be a genius or spilled paint on a canvas and got lucky. Seeing how this painting was in this gallery, I would think he had that envisioned.

picking classes for spring..

So in a few weeks we have to register for spring semester classes. I have a basic idea, mostly the classes that everyone has to take. Only problem I’m having is with Math. I took college level math in h.s. which covers math 2610 and 3010. Strangely enough I actually want to take more math classes. Math 3020 doesn’t review anything previous so I think this class might be difficult since I haven’t taken math in 6 months. The alternative I have is to sit in on a math 2610 or 3010 for a whole semester to review. Only thing is that taking another semester off with no credited math might not do much much good either. Still thinking about what to do…

Stress and anxiety reduction workshop

Today I attended the stress and anxiety reduction workshop. This one was really relaxing. We listened to a recording that aided us in meditation which was cool until I was disturbed by others……. But the meditation is something that I would like yo do again because it helped me feel free of any pressure. Only negative side is that we had to eat some nasty raisins. Yuck!

Stress and Anxiety workshop

Today i attended the Stress and Anxiety workshop. It was very ironic being that i was stressed already because of 3 tests that are coming up this week and next week. The beginning of the seminar with the whole raisin thing wasn’t really helpful being that i hate raisins but i did grasp the concept of trying to get your mind to think in different ways. Then we went through a number of exercises that i considered stretching and breathing that helped relax our muscles that seem to be tense when we’re stressed. I think this workshop can be beneficial if you are dealing with a lot of stress in your life. There are some good techniques with breathing, exercising, eating, and writing that were explained that can help you deal with stress in positive ways.

seminar class

Last Tuesday I found seminar very helpful in providing a guide for how to go about scheduling for classes next semester. That was one issue i was very concerned with because i wasn’t to knowledgeable on the classes that we needed to take in order to get into the business school. After that class I already have a list of classes that i need to take, so from within the handful of classes i can do some research to see what’s available and what times are convenient for me. This past seminar was probably the most beneficial yet.

Third workshop

On October 29th, last thursday, I attended a workshop on basic interviewing skills in room 1107.  It was a pretty helpful workshop.  The speaker talked about some basic interviewing skills and I noticed how prepared you really had to be.  I already had a good idea about what a professional interview was like before I went to the workshop because I had one with Merrill Lynch for an internship, when it was still Merrill Lynch.  I’ve also had two mock interviews during high school which were required for certain business courses I was taking.  The speaker mostly talked about the way you dress, the importance of a good handshake, and the pitch with which you try to sell yourself to the employers.  If this is a workshop that repeats itself, I definitely recommend it to all those who don’t have any prior basic knowledge or experience dealing with the subject of interviewing.  One problem I found with the workshop was that it was extremely crowded.  If there were less people, it would help for some one on one work.  I think that it would make the workshop much better.

last Tuesday’s Seminar

After last tuesdays freshmen seminar class I had a much greater understanding of the classes I need to get to where I want to go.  I really want to get into the Zicklin School of Business so now I pretty much figured out what classes I am planning on taking next semester and I also have backups incase those classes are already full or only available during inconvenient times.  I’ve decided that next semester I will attempt to take ENG 2150, PSY 1001, some PHI course, the basic COM course, and Micro Economics.  Luckily I have already taken Macro Economics and gotten a sufficient grade on the AP and Sociology at the college level so I wont have to take those two courses, which definitely eases the work load.  Also I now know that I must register for the SimNet exam soon.  I will start studying for it and as soon as I believe I am ready I will register for it.  Im hoping it wont be too difficult.

Tuesday’s Seminar

Seminar this week was pretty cool…

I got to find out which classes I will be most likey taking next semester. I am going to try to register for Communications, Sociology, Psychology, English 2150, and probably Economics. These classes seem interesting and I am actually excited for next semester.

However, I found out that nothing is for certain and that I might have these classes in the most inconvenient times ever because second semester Freshmen are the last group of students to register for their classes. This just made me realize how much it sucks to be a Freshman… T.T

Workshops…Failed Me Again…

The success of Thursday’s workshop had inspired me to take part in another one, this time scheduled for Friday.

Grant told me that we get to watch films in this particular workshop  so I was somewhat excited to go.

Then on the seven train, making my 1 hour commute to school, I received a text message from Grant telling me that the workshop had been canceled. I was only ten minutes short from arriving in school when I got the message.

I was very pissed….

Basic Interviewing Workshop

I finally got to go to a workshop on Thursday!

First off, I like the whole registeration process better…at least now I won’t get kicked out because of any lack of space… *whew*

I found that this workshop was very informative and I enjoyed listening to the speaker very much. I learned that simple things such as personal pitch and dress codes are extremely important for all professional interviews.

I never took part in a professional interview before but this workshop definitely gave me some very important insights on what to expect when time comes for me to  go through the interview process.

I’m glad I went. =]
