Here is your first official blogging assignment. Please share your college experience thus far. What has been the smoothest part of the transition, and what has been a perplexing part?
I would like your entries to be one paragraph long, and submitted by Weds Oct, 30th.

Transitioning to college wasn’t what i had expected it to be like. At first i thought college would be hard to adjust to since i was told that the work load was nearly impossible. I was also worried about the commute to Baruch. I had never had to travel that long of a distance to get to school. Being in an LC was a great idea since it gave me a chance to get to know people faster and better than being in a class with no idea who anyone was. The work load wasnt as bad as i first expected either. Many of my cousins who were in college gave me the impression that college work was ridiculously hard which meant many all nighters but it was manageable althought admittedly harder than highshool. In the end college is better than what i had expected and not as intimidating once i got used to the bigger campus and greater number of people.
Although some people may say the transition to college was not difficult, I agree with that to some extent. Things are generally the same because I am used to traveling to school either by walking for by taking the bus, and I still live at home so it still feels like I’m in high school. The people are nice and the peer mentors are great, but the thing that has been rough is the assignments. Well I don’t think its a major issue for me because its not that the assignments are hard, its really a time management issue. In the end I think my overall transition was a slightly difficult but im sure I could work it out in the end.
The transition to college experience resembled closely to the transition I had going into high school. The high school that I attended had an overwhelming diverse student body easing my transition even further. I really felt that the smoothest part of all, is the Learning Community. I was able to make friends easily who I could study with because we were taking the same courses after all. The perplexing part would be the excessive work I obtain compared to the lack of work I previously was used to having.
I forethought my college transition to be difficult and tough on my part but it wasn’t. The best part about going to Baruch is the people. So many people attend Baruch which makes Baruch lively and fun to be in. However, I don’t plan on staying in Baruch. I want to transfer to Binghamton University to be able to experience life on my own. Due to personal problems, I find it quite difficult to concentrate in Baruch. Moving away from New York and Baruch might help to solve that problem. The best part of Baruch is my LC. The people part of my LC are really nice and always willing to help others. I thought maybe some people would be snobby and show attitude. By honestly, I haven’t found one single person in my LC that is anywhere near being snobby. However, there’s nothing that can change my mind about transferring to Binghamton University.
the transition from high school to college isn’t very drastic. Theres still lots of people and you still gotta go to class. Its just more freedom without teachers hanging over your shoulder and making sure that your doing your work. In high school i did have a shorter schedule, and we didnt have to do homework online, which is a bit weird to me.
The transition from high school to college was very smooth. I thought it would be a lot harder but it wasn’t. I also thought things would be a lot more hectic, with all of our classes, but it’s not that bad. Our class is really nice too, so that’s a plus. The most perplexing part is that, like everyone else said, the escalators don’t work. It kind of sucks because I hate taking the stairs and the elevators give me a headache.
The transition from high school to college wasn’t as chaotic as i assume; things went pretty smooth and fast. Baruch wasn’t like a maze, going from class to class was easy. The sport center made things really convenient, I didn’t have to travel far. The workload was much less than I expected. Baruch is almost like another form of my high school but with more essays and papers to do.
The transition to college was not as scary and as hard as I thought it to be. I thought the professors were more strict and harsh, but they’re actually more lenient than high school teachers, except that you cannot give in your assignments late like high school. I thought making friends was also difficult, but the Learning Community made it easier for me. The perplexing parts so far are the readings and the elevator. We get a lot of reading assignments and some are really difficult to understand. I wish the escalators would get fixed so we wouldn’t have to be squished in the elevator. Other than these complications, college experience has been great.
The transition from high school to Baruch College was pretty smooth. I was really nervous at first because I rarely come to the city. My initial reaction was that I was going to get the wrong train or get lost on my way here. Fortunately I have an older sister attending Baruch and she showed me how to get around the city. I’m happy that I’ve made new friends from our LC that are very friendly. I like the fact that we have most of the same classes together because we get to know each other when we hang out during breaks. The perplexing part of college is the fact that the escalators are NEVER going to work! In high school I took the stairs all the time from class to class but we only had 3 floors. I like using the elevators but not when it’s crowded. I guess I’ll have to start getting used to taking the stairs.
The transition from high school to college was pretty easy. I expected alot more work than what I’ve gotten. Plus it’s nice having Fridays off. The only perplexing thing is those elevators! However I have found nice staircases and learned which ones to take so when I exit I’ll be right next to my class. Hopefully by the end of this semester I’ll be in great shape :).
Well the transition from High School to College was very smooth for me. I knew in college we would have a lot of reading, and work to do. The classes and work given to us are fair, so it just feels like 13th grade of H.S to me. But time management is still extremely difficult for me. I just started doing my h.w now even though we just had a four day weekend. Might even end up procrastinating more and do a all nighter. The habit of procrastinating still hasn’t left me :-(.
The transition into college wasn’t as i had imagined. it was more simple then i had thought. i still dont really feel much of a difference. i’m in the phase of trying to comprehend that i am now in college. because of the little amount of classes and long breaks in between, i don’t feel as if im in a school enviornment. the smoothest part of the transition was fitting in because when i entered the school i noticed that i knew more people then i thought i did. My brother is also a Junior at baruch and i know his friends so, it made things easier for me to know if i had a problem i had all these other upperclassmen to turn too. the Only perplexing part is that i still occasionally get lost.
The transition to college was not as difficult as I thought it would be. I thought making friends in college would be difficult but I ended being in an awesome LC and made friends with really cool people. Since most of us have the same schedule, we get to spend more time together and I feel that we’ve all gotten closer. I can’t think of anything perplexing about the transition; it felt really easy to become a college student.
