Descartes Third Meditation

In the third meditation Descartes presents an argument for proving the existence of God. In the meditation the author argues that God is the supreme power and an infinite being. According to Descartes God is the source and the originator for all of us imperfect and finite beings. Also Descartes claims that we all derive our existence from the Almighty himself. In addtion Descartes wants to prove that God really exists and that he is the good power. In the authors point of view, God would not deceive him. So in this way Descartes provides his own reasons for proving the Gods existence. In my opinion I am not sure if God is really the root of all existence. Whereas i do believe in God and his powers, i do not see him as the infinite being. If thinking in a philosophical way and being realistic, i have never even witnessed God or his powers. The idea of the Lord was taught to me since early childhood and i grew up accepting and adapting to this belief.  I was encouraged and in certain times forced to attend church(easter) and advised to pray at night. If considering this topic of belief  logically, it just does not make any sense of how something unhuman and untouchable could hold such belief from such a majority of individuals. But throughout history we learned that beliefs change with the time periods. A good example of this would be the Ancient Greece where people believed in multiple Gos of  elements and such. Even prior to that time period, societies and individuals worshiped and prayed to animals. Thus how do we know that the belief system we currently hold on to and accept today wont change throughout time. How can we be convinced that in many years we will not be looked at as foolish for believing in God? Well i can not predict the future, i can only express my personal stand on it. And who knows? But in regards to Descartes view of God, i do not think of the Lord in the same way. I see him as the forgiver and the ruler of our next life. And im not going to start doubting what i have believed and accepted as reality my whole life. It is much more simple to follow the common belief because in the end even if we were unreasonable and foolish by believing in God, it is only a belief. By this belief we let ourselves hold on to something. It even gives us hope by praying to God. By believing in God we also make ourselves feel better in times of  confession. If examined carefully, there are numerous ways that people have made the religion work for them. For example: behaving by ethical code, attending church in a civilized way, not commiting violence,  helping others in need, and much more. It is very possible that the whole God theory  is just made up, and completely false. Because really? Who do you know that has actually had an encounter with God? I can discuss this matter much further but im going stop at this point and would like to hear some opinions.
