I have attended career planning workshop, in which we were discussing how to write a proper resume. The presenter gave us a lot if useful information and specific details on how to make our resume stand out from the rest. We were advised to go to STARR web page and create an account there, in order to get the best help. Unfortunately their projecter was broken and we could see the full presentation. Nonetheless I like this workshop the most out of all others.
Values, Pressure and Choosing A Major
We attended Choosing A Major on November 16. It was very interesting on how a stressful it is to chose a major, and how sometimes your family can influence you on to choosing a major. It is a recommended workshop to everyone because it was very interesting. We received a sheet and basically we filled out the sheet and had a discussion.
Workshop:Arts at Baruch
Last week, I attened Arts at Baruch. It was really crowded and we had to wait for a little bit more than one hour to see the paintings. Many of the paintings were very beautiful and they were vibrant as well. I loved Mercedes drawing and she was a very talented artisit.
Job Fair Prep
On November 19, I attended the Career Planning Job fair prep in room 1-107 from 12:30 to 2:30. Even though I already did a Career Exploration workshop, I had to do this workshop to make up for my missing Global-Community Awareness workshop. I learned how to prepare for interviews and how to leave good first impressions for possible employers. I learned how social networking can help further your career, and also the things that can hurt your chance at a job. This workshop was very helpful and i would recommend it to others because it teaches you how to prepare for the future.
Career planning: Resume Writing
I attended the workshop on resume writing. The workshop went from 3 to 4 pm. We talked about the format of a resume like what to include. The presenter also talked about STARR and how useful it isThis workshop was informative but poorly delivered. I would recommend this to anyone looking to learn about resumes.
Values, Pressures, and Choosing a Major
I attended the personal enrichment workshop called values, pressures, and choosing a major. It was from 3 to 4 pm on Nov 16. The workshop was not helpful. All we did was complete two poorly constructed charts; it looked like someone from the 18th century constructed it. Why does one’s gender, race, sexual orientation, or social class have to do with choosing a future? Those are completely irrelevant. I would not recommend this workshop to a friend.
