Managing Relationships

As many would know by now, I am pretty shy, and more of an intovert. I am mentioning this because I think it is the main reason why I didnt enjoy this workshop so much. Maybe if I had more of a bold and outgoing personality, I would have enjoyed it more.

I personally don’t think that forcing new students to meet new people right on the spot is the most effective way to make new friends. Yes, it does help at some point (I did meet some new people, but it never went beyond the brief smile, firm handshake, and the basic, “hi, my name is”, or “nice to meet you”), but this activity still didn’t really do much for me.

Regardless, though, it was good to see the speaker making an effort to have the students interact with one another, and to break out of their comfort zones. Though she didn’t have the chance to go into any specific topic in detail, she covered the basics of family relationships, freindships, and romantic relationships, in terms of how we can deal with them in college. The speaker also had us discuss and share our own experiences or problems in relationships, and then she gave us a few tips on how to develop and maintain healthy relationships, which was definitely helpful.

Again, not my favorite workshop, but it was still pretty helpful and informative.

^^I really need to attend this workshop. My romantic life right now is haywire. I feel like I’m in a soap drama or something. Anyone want to go?

And I do love talking Latoya. I also love cake.

Now in regards to what the workshop stated. It really can be difficult trying to balance family responsibilities, work relationships, and romantic relationships. Although the way that this topic was presented seems to be more for people who are extroverted with their emotions and view points. This is something that all people come in contact with, no matter what type of personality they have. We all have to learn to balance what is going on in the different areas within our lives and we all have to interact with others at some point. Whether it’s family or strangers that we are paired up with during group projects.

I have always been able to talk to people when the time came, but I was never really open. Knowing that I would need that ability in the career I chose helped me to overcome it and develop the skill of talking with people. So as the time goes by I’m sure that both of you will be able to find a balance it how to act around others. Whether that means turning it down sometimes or turning it up, so your opinion will not be over looked.
