Blood Drive – Community/Global Awareness

On December 2nd, I went to the “Holiday Blood Drive” in VC 1-107 to fulfill my Community/Global awareness workshop credit.

It really wasn’t what I expected.

I thought it would be ten times more festive, and I would have my blood drawn while sitting on Santa’s lap, pampered with gifts by little elves. I guess not.

But other than destroying a kid’s holiday hopes, it was pretty smooth otherwise.

The donation took ten minutes, and it went by pretty fast since I was just listening to the assistants’ conversation on 50 cent’s new album. One of them kept thinking I was about to pass out from blood loss, though, but I was just tired from pulling an all-nighter.

After I was done, other than the usual cookies and juice, I also got a nice shirt. Its a good memento.

Also got an account with points that I can trade for prizes online. Unfortunately, the lowest “costing” prize is 400 points, and each donation is only worth 75. So another couple of pints to go before I can get a Fitted cap or a box of Legos. Joy.
