Mediating Conflict&Resolution 10.29

The workshop was okay.  It was mainly about how to solve any conflict a student would have in the school year.  There is a person you would go to, I don’t know how to spell it but it starts with an A, ambosh?, I don’t know, but that’s the person you would go to to make an appointment with to file your complaint. Whether it be a problem with a teacher or a grade, that person will help guide you by asking questions and subtly allowing YOU to solve the situation. The room was very packed and the speaker split us up into groups of fours to do some role playing.  My group’s situation was that a student received a C- for a class but she needs a passing grade in order to get into the Zicklin School so she went to the ambosh for help but in the end, the student and the teacher talked it out and found a way to solve the problem.  The workshop helped me understand that there are many ways to resolve a problem at hand, but that most importantly YOU have to take the first step in trying to solve it before going to someone else for help.
