Blood Drive

The blood drive is a simple workshop that everyone should attend because it not only benefits you but someone else. Just thinking that your blood is being used to save someone’s life is all but heartwarming. The paperwork is little bit much but, but it is there to make sure that your blood is safe for the receiver. The best part of this seminar is the food and little snacks that were given after and if your lucky the free shirt.

Sacc Tutoring Center

My visit to the Sacc tutoring center was very academic enriching. I needed help with Math, the tutor assigned to me was very helpful. She made it quick and simple.  The tutoring center was packed when I went. I was with a friend and we had similiar problems. She helped us solve them & helped us a lot.

SAAC Tutor

There were no more personal enrichment workshops left, so Caroline, Kat, and I went to the SAAC center. We were originally going there for writing, but there were no walk in times, and everything was booked up due to the last week of classes. However, we were able to meet with the psychology tutor. She was running very late, so a writing tutor wound up coming over to us and going over Caroline’s essay. Then, the pysch tutor came in. She was very kind, and made many things understandable to me because she related them to real situations. She offered more help, and said to e-mail her with any questions. I thought she was great, and definiately knew her material!! I never realized how helpful a psych tutor can be.

Gallery Tour

I was interested in Mercedes Matter, so I thought this gallery tour would be somewhat interesting. It would of been better if I was able to just go and look around myself. It was way too hot in there, and way too small. I just couldn’t wait to get out of there. However, the subject matter was interesting if you were paying attention. I have always liked art, so I didn’t mind it too much. Still, the heat and the way the tour was conducted made it boring and unbearable.

Peer Mediation

This workshop was very reminiscent of a peer mediation group we had in my high school. It revolved around solving issues among students in a positive manner. We were divided into groups and asked to role play, to see how we would act in a situation of conflict. It didn’t come as anything new to me, as it was mostly information I had either learned or experienced before, but I found it to be one of the more entertaining workshops that I’ve been to.

stress & anxiety

This workshop really helped me reduce my stress and the instructor showed us a variety of ways to physically and mentally relieve our minds of stress and anxiety.  I think these exercises are really underrated, when people are stressed out the last thing they think of is doing these exercises.  After this workshop i think that everyone with stress and/or anxiety should try it out because it really does help.

Club Fair

It was a while back but i remember the club fair was pretty hectic.  People were very enthusiastic about their respective clubs.  There was a lot of people present that day and i remember collecting a bunch of papers from different clubs.  It reminded me a lot of high school where people were stationed at their clubs offering food and trying to recruit people.  Although i didn’t get to join any clubs this time , i plan on doing it next semester  .

Basic Interviewing

Some of information that the presenter shared with us was common sense but I did learn some valuable things about the do s and don’ts of getting interviewed.  The presenter went through everything from what to wear to how to act.  She was very particular but what to wear for guys telling us what color suits to wear and what kind of socks we should avoid.  It was an interesting workshop although i thought some of the bullet points in her presentation were a bit nitpicked.  Also i realized that a lot of the information i learned here was already taught in english class when we learned a thing or two about interviews for future jobs and such.

Arts at Baruch: Mercedes Matter

I thought this art show was interesting, there were a couple of paintings that really popped out at me.  Many of the paintings were abstract pieces, paintings that really require you to look and analyze to understand it.  The paintings were for the most part vibrant and colorful.  I thought the presenter did a good job of keeping us interested and awake, she transitioned from piece to piece smoothly and made sure to answer any questions or comments that arosed.  She did a good job of relating the art pieces to Mercrcedes herself, giving a good balance of her artwork and her life.
