Gallery Tour: The Nature of Landscape/ The Nature of Photography

Hey LC -11! So I attended my 3rd freshman enrichment workshop today. Here’s all the information on it:

Title: Gallery Tour-The Nature of Landscape/The Nature of Photography

Category: Arts @ Baruch

Date/Time: Tuesday, 10/13 @ Mishkin Gallery

This workshop was a brief tour of a small collection of photography. Robert was there again (why always the crowded ones?); but then again, he’s everywhere lol (can I write lol here?-it is informal after all). Anyways, back on topic, there was a small collection of photography with landscape pictures. I liked some of them. Of course, I wasn’t able to fully appreciate it because I was hoping to get my signature. Swati, Amanda, and Jenn were waiting back at the VC editing the video for the English project (sorry for making you wait, guys). I’m not exactly sure what else to write about so I’m just gonna write about the pics I liked. I liked 2 pics by Marilyn Bridges: one titled Machu Picchu, Peru, Among the Peaks of the Andes and one titled Kazhitna Glacier, Denali, Alaska. I also liked Sally Gall’s Selected Landscapes: Canoe becasue of the shape of the canoe. Alac MacWeeney’s Bridesmaids Dresses, Aran Islands really accentuated the texture of the rocks and the dresses had a really classic quality about them. Andy Warhol’s Plaza because it reminded me of the fountain in Central Park (that’s my favorite spot). I didn’t realize that Lucien Clergue’s (what a name)  Four Nudes in the City was a picture of four derrières until I looked closer. I guess that was as far out of my comfort zone as I went. I’m pretty comfortable with new cultural experiences. I liked that the workshop was short, sweet, and to-the-point. It met my expectations. I would recommend it to another person because it’s a simple way to fulfill the Arts requirement. I got there at around 1:00 and would’ve made it out at around 1:30 if they took groups of >25. So it’s late and this seems to have solved my little insomnia problem for the night lol. I just realized that the website greets you with Howdy, [your sn here]. I find that comical (which proves how tired I am right now). Signing off now…
