This particular enrichment workshop was interesting in that it actually took place, lol just kidding.
Here we learned how it is important to be mindful of how we portray ourselves to other people and what types of advantages or disadvantages this may have for us. More importantly these understandings were made clear that they were especially important within a business environment or an interview for a job at a big business, and since we do go to business school, that is how it all remains relevant.
Now one major thing we learned is that someone who’s opinion matters may have a certain view or feelings about you before you guys even share eye contact let alone words. This makes it all the more important to be dressed accordingly, speak appropriately and carry yourself in an all around positive manner.
These first impressions can be the deciding factor in whether we are able to get a particular job or not, contributing to the reasons on why this particular workshop was so important. We learned more important skills that help us during interview and basic interaction while occupying the workspace. Basics include the need to dress appropriately, respect others, and acting appropriately.
All these skills are necessary for us to lead a successful career and for us to be able to get in and stay in the fields of our choice.
In my opinion the workshop was a bit longer than it needed to be to get the point across, and I felt that the speaker repeated somethings much more than once which added to the unnecessarily long length. Other than it was worth listening to gaining knowledge from, as well as getting that signature of course. 😉
