The “Career Planning” workshop was meant to open the eyes of the freshman and allowed me to see why it was important to do a workshop. An internship, as the first speaker said is a way for a a student to explore a major and see if he or she likes a certain field. It allows a student to work in a real setting and to understand the behavior and maturity necessary for a workplace. There is a questionnaire inside the pamphlet given that asks questions about what a student is interested in. After answering this questionnaire, it became clear that I definitely want to do something with writing. I also want to explore marketing. This workshop did take me out of my comfort zone because I never really sat down and evaluated what I wanted to do as a career. This workshop was good because it was a time where I was able to sit quietly and really evaluate what I wanted to do as a career. From this workshop, I learned that internships are a way to help a person decide if they want to go into a certain field. I also learned how internships can help one get a job later on in life.
