Academic Enrichment: Freshman Reception 9/17

On September 17th, I attended an Academic Enrichment seminar. This seminar was in the beginning of the semester when everyone was nervous, anxious, and trying to get adjusted to Baruch. The workshop got crowded quickly with students, leaving limited seats which forced the seminar to end early. Despite the short time spent there, I took much from this workshop. College is more difficult and demanding than high school, it is our responsibility to keep on top of our studies and work by using time management. College is supposed to be the best four years of our life and finding the right group of friends is also an important aspect. Joining a club and even attending an event just like this one is a good way to meet people, that way college can not only be a place of work and study. This workshop definatly took me out of my comfort zone because the administrators were friendly and helped everyone feel comfortable. Unfortuntaly, I would not reccomend this particular workshop to students because although I do feel I got much out of it, it was crowded and we were forced to leave early and I feel I could have learned more if I had went to another acedemic enrichment that was longer. For my first freshman seminar I did find it a helpful experience.
