Using and Evaluating the Web for Research – 12:45, 10/20/09

This workshop was designed to show how useful a device the internet could be for finding resources for research papers. Tools such as Google Books, Google Scholar, and online libraries were all shown to us. The internet, it seems, is just as useful for finding online sources as well as textbooks and journals. For example, instead of having to find a hardcopy of an obscure book on music in the Soviet Union (this is an example from a paper we have to write for History / Music), I can simply look online (Google Books) and cite directly from the text. Overall, the workshop was very useful and I recommend it to anyone who is searching for a new way to find resources for papers on the internet.
