Personal Enrichment workshop- Managing Relationships in College 10/08/09

This workshop was basically on how to balance school and relationships, also how to build relationships in school. We had to get up and walk around the room and introduce ourselves to people we did not know. I personally didnt want to get up and introduce myself so I stayed in my seat, which kind of defeated the purpose but people introduced themselves to me. We also had to learm something new about someone we had met. There was a discussion on how to balance relationships and school work; most people said that being in college kind of made it harder for them to have time for their romantic or family relationships. Theres no such thing as personal space were i live so I’m always spending time with my family. I didnt hear the speaker offer any solutions to those who did have problems with having time for relationships. I guess as we continue on in our college education it might only get more difficult to have time for family and friends during the semester. It was interesting to meet new people because in a school so big it might be kind of hard to find a social group like you did in high school. We also learned that though it is nice to have friends in Baruch that you knew since high school, its also good to meet new people. I dont think I walked out of this workshop with any new friends or insight, I do think i was listening to what the speaker was saying, well for the most part. It was cool.
