Are you Pro-life or Pro-choice? (random)

I thought the reading we had to do for sociology class was interesting so I decided to write about it here. I know this is a personal issue and many people are not comfortable talking about it but I got really into this essay and decided to post my thought. 🙂  In the article the author talks about two groups of people and their beliefs about abortion. Pro-life are mostly Christian people and believe that abortion is wrong. On the other hand  Pro-choice people are mostly atheists and believe that abortion is acceptable to a certain extent. This essay is looooong so I’m not going to talk about the details cause it’s going to take me forever. I just want to point out some aspects that I think are not mentioned in this essay. The author talks only about Christian people and atheists, but what about all the other religions? By excluding different religions I think the piece is losing it’s accuracy. Another thing I want to mention is the idea of some people falling in between these two groups. I personally would be pro-life and pro-choice, but I would disagree with some aspects of both.

P.S. hmm…. you can just ignore whatever I said, I don’t even know if it makes any sense  🙂

I lean towards the Democrat party’s policy on Abortion. After the first trimester or first three months you cannot abort a baby. This can be helpful for the teens who somehow maybe through having unprotective sex have an alternative of aborting the baby and not giving up their future plans or career in taking care of the baby. For the married couples, it can be helpful in the wife’s case. As the coming in of a baby might be an obstacle in her job or a future career.

Wow I’m a bit late on this but I tend to lean more towards pro-choice. Commenting on what Nelson said, I believe that contraception isn’t always reliable. I, myself have experienced times when the condom breaks and such and not wanting a baby at this time, have considered abortion. Not that I have aborted any kid before but it is just comforting and is a way to secure your future. If the choice of having an abortion is taken away, then many people would be stuck with kids they neglect, dont want, can’t afford and would probably, ultimately ruin the kid’s childhood. What if the condom breaks and the woman gets pregnany you know, how would you feel in that situation when you’re still a college student with no or low income.

Condoms are 99% effective when “handled” correctly. When they say “handled” they leave a very vague definition.

Contraceptive pills are 99% depending on the female’s body chemistry (everyone’s body is different).

Other popular forms of contraception is only 80% or lower effective.

Even plan-b is 80% effective with a drop of about 10% after each day for 3 days and barely any effective after 3 days.

Besides if the choice of abortion is taken away…. There would probably be plenty of back alley abortions which are unsterile and unsafe AND dumpster babies.

I’m leaning towards the pro-choice group because I believe that women should have the choice whether they want to be mothers or not. Sometimes there are wrong situations to bring another life into the world. Like the parents can’t afford the have the baby because babies are expensive from the baby food to diapers. Also, some people aren’t ready to be parents, like teenage girls who can’t even take care of themselves yet. But I think that for those who can afford a baby, can take care of it and can provide the best for the baby should definitely keep the baby instead of killing an innocent life.

I am pro-life but I’m biased because I adore kids. I used to work in a daycare so as you can imagine, bonding with kids is like… awesome.

I think people just need to be more considerate and understand that they must prevent pregnancy if not ready instead of terminating pregnancies after they happen.

    Bottom Line… abortion = wrong

I always was always in the mix between the two. Firstly I do feel that having the option to perform abortion is necessary only for people who really need it such as people who get pregnant after getting raped. On the contrary, if it is someone who just doesn’t want to take responsibility of their actions, then I don’t think they deserve to able to use abortion as an alternative. Another thing is I feel taking away life is just wrong. It’s like giving you a free pass to commit murder. I think people should be responsible and make sure to use protection if you don’t want to commit to an unexpected pregnancy.

I liked the reading, even though it was pretty long. I am pro life but I realized that some of the pro choice ideas make sense too. I agree that the idea of abortion is sad too.

I don’t want to take a side but my thoughts lean more toward the pro-choice group. I believe that abortion should only be done when its completely necessary. Necessary times are like… when a female gets raped or in situations where the birth would harm the mother severely (death or something…). Some people view pro-choice in a wrong way. Its not a time where…you are free to abort whenever. I watched a video on Youtube (SXEphil if anyone wonders) and Phil talked about a woman who had 15 abortions in 16 years. That is just plain wrong in so many ways…I mean like… I would understand if you made a mistake once like get knocked up or something and got an abortion. But when you abuse the idea of abortion, its just sad.
