Our 44th President has won the Nobel Peace Prize Award 2009.  Apparently it was unanimous vote fromt he committee that Obama deserved this award.  I agree he is bring up changes, but he hasn’t really done anything yet. I’m not saying he doesnt deserve this award, but more like he shouldn’t be getting it so early in office.  I chuckled when I read this quote: “You have to remember that the world has been in a pretty dangerous phase,” Jagland said. “And anybody who can contribute to getting the world out of this situation deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.” (I want a Nobel Peace Prize too =]) By giving him this award, I feel it will apply pressure for him to do act on the promises he made.

No not literally, but NASA plans to bomb a part of the moon in order to search for water! Good news and bad news…Good news is that if NASA hits water, hooray… bad news is… what if somehow the explosion causes a disruption? I mean like… they need to go pretty deep to hit water. Therefore wouldn’t it require some kind of big explosion? I can imagine chunks of rocks that fly out of the moon’s gravitational pole and start hurling towards earth. Perhaps the moon will shift due to the big explosion and disrupt the tides or whatever. Oh possibilities! Our tax dollars are going to fund NASA to blow up the moon!

What do you guys think?

Game room exploration

I have found several differences between college and high school during one month. Some of the differences are expected. But the game room really impresses me when i first found it. It is on the 3rd floor. I cannot tell the exact location of the room but it is easily to find. I usually spend my long breaks on Monday and Wednesday in the game room. There are several activities in the game room. You can play table tennis, pool, foosball and cards in there. I think the most popular game is pool. Usually there is a line waitting for playing. It takes more than 20 minutes to wait. So if you want to try then you need to be patient. I have already made some new pool mates.LOL I am a pool addict. Foosball is fun to me because I have never played before. It requires your physical coordination. ohh i want to correct a misconception. NOT EVERY CHINESE KNOWS HOW TO PLAY PINGPANG. I am not good at it..Overall, I strongly recommend you guys to go check the game room and hopefully you will have a good time.

Art Workshop

Man talk about a great workshop. The art workshop was the shortest one of all. All we had to do was listen to a guide for about 10 minutes about the kind of photographic works they had and BAM! You got your signiture right after. If anyone didn’t get the art workshop fullfulled yet, get that done. It’s fast, easy, and actually a bit informative.

The Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research

Details:
New York City
Saturday, October 17, 2009 @ 9:30 a.m.
Central Park, Manhattan

Hey folks. 2 Saturdays from now there is a run to help fund Cancer research being held in Central Park. Me and a few friends are taking part for the fun of it and I just thought I’d put it out there for anyone else out there who is interested. Registration is free and a donation is not necessary.

Distance wise, its about 3.1 miles and you dont really have to run the whole thing. Expect it to be chilly though (after all, its early in the morning)
Well if you want any more details on how to register, feel free to ask me. You can also browse around the site and check it out for yourself.

Thanks for Reading.

EDIT:

No this isnt a Baruch College Event that can count for one of your 6 areas in the passport. Its strictly something you can do for fun if you have the time.

Has anyone ever done something spectacular?

Today while walking to work I saw this grandma with her stroller and this two year old kid. While I was walking by the grandma started screaming frantically. Of course I was confused as first until I saw the kid tensing up with a face that looked as if he was choking. The kid apparently has a seizure and stopped breathing. So I rushed over (because I’m CPR certified) and was about to help the kid. But a older man jumped in front of me and started administering CPR to the kid. I thought he looked like he knew what he was doing well at least better than what I could of done so I let him do his thing. So I did the next available action and called the ambulance. Thank god i was able to because the other people didn’t know the neighborhood well and didn’t know where we were located. So I gave the operator specific instructions to the scene.

Of course by this time I was very late for work but I couldn’t leave the kid not knowing how he would turn out. After about 10 minutes the ambulance came and picked up the kid. I waved good bye to the man and the grandma and said I had to go to work.

It felt so good being able to help out a person in need and well helped save a person’s life.

Of course I want to tell everyone bout this but hah it just felt like another day in my life.

Lower East Side Tenement Museum :)

I liked the museum. I think it’s a great place to go and visit. Because no matter where you’re coming from I think everyone in this country should appreciate the history of immigration. When we first went up to Victoria Confino’s apartment I thought it was funny when the tour guide and Victoria were talking to each other. It was nice to go back in time( before this trip I thought it was impossible to travel in time) 🙂  I noticed how her family didn’t have much space and she had to sleep on the kitchen floor. That was sad. I’ve been to Elise Island and I heard that some people were forced to stay on Elise Island for few days without food because they were waiting for the doctors note. It was a long and painful process and many times families were separated by deporting some family members. This shows how most immigrants struggled a lot to get to this country and I think they still do.

The walking tour was interesting. I didn’t like the fact that  brothels were next to the school and few blocks away from the synagogue. The tour guide was from New Zealand and he told me that it takes 20 hours to come to New York, which is insane(random). I was surprised when he said that some of the prostitutes were Jewish and how they working place was next to their “sacred place.” Overall the walking tour was informative but it was to cold  for me to comprehend the information entirely.

Are you Pro-life or Pro-choice? (random)

I thought the reading we had to do for sociology class was interesting so I decided to write about it here. I know this is a personal issue and many people are not comfortable talking about it but I got really into this essay and decided to post my thought. 🙂  In the article the author talks about two groups of people and their beliefs about abortion. Pro-life are mostly Christian people and believe that abortion is wrong. On the other hand  Pro-choice people are mostly atheists and believe that abortion is acceptable to a certain extent. This essay is looooong so I’m not going to talk about the details cause it’s going to take me forever. I just want to point out some aspects that I think are not mentioned in this essay. The author talks only about Christian people and atheists, but what about all the other religions? By excluding different religions I think the piece is losing it’s accuracy. Another thing I want to mention is the idea of some people falling in between these two groups. I personally would be pro-life and pro-choice, but I would disagree with some aspects of both.

P.S. hmm…. you can just ignore whatever I said, I don’t even know if it makes any sense  🙂

First Workshop

Last thursday I attended my first workshop, which was very hectic. Unfortunately by the time I got there, the administrators ran out of supplies, so it was mostly long lines of of students waiting to get there Passports signed. So I didn’t really get much of what a workshop is exactly, however I heard of another one thats going to be going on tomorrow, so hopefully this one goes better.
