A woman was reporting her car as stolen, and mentioned
that there was a car phone in it. The policeman taking
the report called the phone and told the guy that answered
that he had read the ad in the newspaper and wanted to buy
the car. They arranged to meet, and the thief was arrested.

General Study Tips–Academic Enrichment
On Tuesday I went to a General Study Tips workshop. I was a bit late and there were only three other students in that workshop. The professor went over some English reading and writing tips such as: active reading, annotations, reading out loud to catch errors and how to effectively write an essay. One main thing that we should do is write an outline and plan ahead long before the paper is due. The professor also added that it is important to add our own thoughts to the essay as that is what the professors truly want.
So basically it made sense and it was some useful advice.
CLUBS? FOOD?
So is anyone joining a club, or found one interesting? I’m really looking for a club to join, during school hours.I need to kill off that lunch break. Speaking of lunch, sometimes eating lunch outside gets too boring.. I’ve been everywhere around and I even went all the way to Chinatown. What places do you guys usually eat at? What do you do during the lunch break?
Club Fair-Student Life
I went to the club fair to see what clubs there were at Baruch. I saw the apple club, Wall Street Club, Finance And economics Society, Golden Key, Sigma Alpha Delta and the Archery Club. I joined the ones that I mentioned and I hope it will turn out pretty fun. I participated in this event because I am a freshman and I need to see what this school is able to offer me at a college level. It turned out as I expected. I didn’t expect that much and I didn’t expect anything less. There was a few clubs that sounded interesting and I signed up. I believe every freshman should go to a Club fair to see what you can do outside of school work. Life is not always about school and I stand by that. There wasn’t much that surprised me other than the delicious cupcakes I got from joining a club. What I could take away from this experience? I feel that this was more of a networking event and meeting people it certainly helped me connect to the school a lot more.
Lamest Workshop Ever
I went to that “mandatory” workshop last week and it was the most disorganized event I have ever been to. The whole floor was packed and when I finally did get in there was only ONE lady who could sign your agenda. She was getting mobbed by the crowd and I didn’t even get a cookie.
Archery Club
I signed up for Archery Club last Thursday during Club Fair. It meets on Saturday and Sunday in the evening in the old building, 6th floor. I went on Saturday and they taught me a lot of things. For example, what kind of equipment you need, how to face the target, how to hold the bow and how to pull, etc. I had a lot of fun. Although I didn’t shoot it exactly into the middle.. I think I did a pretty good job as a beginner.. =]
Freshman Open House
Last Thursday, September 17 was the Freshman Reception. It is a Academic Enrichment Workshop. They gave out folders on declaring a minor, along with a list of Tier 3 minors. There were also information on Tier I and Tier II ( classes you must take) For those of you who didn’t get the folder last week, they have them now, so you can go ask. For those who didn’t go but want the information and papers, you can go to NVC 5-215.
