I attended the workshop on November 19. Recruiters from Verizon came to present their advice for job fair. Most of their advice ie. good timing, dress code, politeness, interview goals, are things that we know at the back of our heads, but it’ helpful that they reviewed them.

a story
As a speech pathologist, I often ask patients to tell me a personal story in order to get them to open up. Here’s one man’s tale:
”My friend wanted a boat more than anything. His wife kept refusing, but he bought one anyway. ‘I’ll tell you what,’ he told her. ‘In the spirit of compromise, why don’t you name the boat?’ Being a good sport, she accepted. And when her husband went to the dock for his maiden voyage, this is the name he saw painted on the side: For Sale.

Phantom of the Opera is really amazing.
Elegant and emotion stirring, it was simply the best broadway show I’ve seen. I was especially impressed by the visual presentation and the singing. No wonder it’s the longest running broadway show.
In one word:Brilliant
VA Hospital Global Awareness
On Friday I went to the hospital 3 avenues away from Baruch where I had to help pack Christmas cards into envelopes with help from 15 other Baruch students. It was a very easy task and the hospital was very big so it was okay. Now i don’t have to do Wook’s project so I guess that’s good.
Because Sherry is Always so Dedicated
to homework… yesterday Kimberly and I decided to spend the 6 hours of waiting time for Phantom of the Opera to pull Sherry away from her essays and homework assignments (she really wanted to do math homework btw…) to go.. SHOPPING!!!!!!!! Even though she wasn’t too happy most of the time because we were taking her away from homework and we wouldn’t talk about capitalistic ideas with her 😛 I hope she enjoyed the time we all spent together because I enjoyed it very muchhh XD This was a very good opportunity to get to know each other more because we talked a lot and I hope we have future LC events like this!!
— not sure if i should add random pictures.. but.. it relates to school somehow ..& its sort of our little LC activity..so.. yeah…
shopping..
she’s smiling!!!!!!

Career Planning–Resume Writing
Today, I went to a resume writing workshop. I remembered to take my resume with me, and when the presenter was talking about how we should write the resume, I was taking notes on an extra copy of my resume. The information given about how to format and write the resume was different from the format that I used, but overall there was no major differences. We learned that there was something called a Major G.P.A as opposed to an Overall G.P.A. Also, the presenter told us that we did not have to put a major on our resume.
Career Planning–Interviewing
Last Thursday, I went to another workshop, about interviewing. It was offered information on what a person should or should not say in an interview. Most of it was common sense, but some of the information I didn’t know. For instance, the speaker at the workshop told us that if an interviewer asks us about attending graduate school, we should not say that we are going to graduate school. The reason for this is because this may make the interviewer wonder about where our priorities would lie, with our studies or with our jobs? Also, the speaker spoke about what we should wear, questions we should ask to show that we are knowledgable, etc. Overall, it was a very good workshop; it had a lot of information.
