I attended the Club Fair last week in hopes of joining a really cool club to keep me occupied. I’m not enjoying the Baruch life at all, so I thought maybe meeting some new people in a new environment would be helpful. Plus, my peer mentor suggested that I take advantage of this opportunity since it could benefit me in the long run. =]
When I got to the fair it was definitely in full spirit mode. Everyone was competing with each other to persuade people to join their clubs. It was definitely colorful and festive. Each club had a table set up and covered in numerous flyers advertising their central focus and/or activites or community service projects they have participated in. The clubs that definitely stood out were the sororities and fraternities. They had a lot of club members handing out refreshments and shouting out their names and stuff. It was definitely a great sight =D
I basically went around to most of the clubs to look at their fliers and talk to some of the members to learn more about what they were about. I stopped by the Baruch City Advertising Society (BCAS) table to ask some questions about the club. I was told that they do a lot of advertising in terms of creating fliers around the campus and they also invite a lot of advertising companies to speak to Baruch students about the Marketing field. I took a few fliers and moved on to the next table, but I did sign my name since it seemed like an interesting club. I went looking for the West Indian / Caribbean Student club and I found them towards the end of the club fair. I signed my name but it didn’t seem like they did much. All I was told was that there was an upcoming Binghamton Trip in the making.
My fav. part of this event was the dancing. Almost everyone gathered around the DJ and people from dance clubs started to perform for us. It was actually kinda fun and cool. There was this one kid that was krumpin’ which was pretty awesome 🙂 Overall, the club fair was good.
